Think I'm having a miscarriage (trigger warning)

I think I might be having a miscarriage

My first pregnancy, I’m 7 weeks. I started getting old looking blood yesterday afternoon with cramps that went on until about 2am this morning, spoke to my doctors and they suggested getting to my local A&E this morning.

When I woke up and went to the toilet there was a smallish bloody clot with blood vessels and pale bits in it- I know it can be normal to bleed in the first trimester but this seems really bad.

Has anyone experienced the same and gone on to have a healthy, happy baby? I’m really scared.

Didn't want to pass without commenting. Give the Early pregnancy unit a call at your local hospital. They can make you an appt for a scan today and confirm if there is a heartbeat or not.
Sending love xx

Ttcmumma · 06/12/2023 09:42

It can go either way unfortunately it's hard to know at the moment. Hopefully you can get a scan and see a baby with a heartbeat x

PawsAndReflection · 06/12/2023 10:48

Thank you ❤️ finally got a call back and they can't fit me in for a scan until Monday so feeling a bit lost- seems like such a long time to wait

It's really early so noone can tell you the most likely outcome. It could go either way. Either way you will be OK, but it's hard waiting.

Whataretheodds · 06/12/2023 10:51

The best thing you can do is look after yourself as if you are pregnant and try to distract yourself as much as possible until you have an answer. Be aware though that this is how pregnancy goes - there are plenty of things that give you the opportunity to worry and wait!

J3llycat · 06/12/2023 10:53

Bless you. Hoping for the best outcome. Stay strong x

HowNice23 · 06/12/2023 10:59

I've had pregnancy bleeds with a baby at the end and bleeds that turned into a miscarriage. The difference was with miscarriage the pains and blood increased going from brown to red and more amounts. Look after yourself and hopefully your mind can be put at rest soon x

Ttcmumma · 06/12/2023 11:36

Oh god I couldn't wait that long personally, would drive me insane. Can you afford to book a private one? You can usually get them much quicker

Darknessoldfriend · 06/12/2023 12:04

Sorry this is happening to you OP.

Waiting for Monday would drive me mad, if you really can’t wait I would get a private scan or you could also do another pregnancy test in a few days to see if it’s got lighter.

PawsAndReflection · 06/12/2023 12:10

Thanks everyone ❤️

There hasn't been much more blood so I'm trying to stay positive

Would you take a pregnancy test to see if the line has faded at all?

Mine was still a dye stealer a week after my baby had died. It was the scan that showed growth had stopped 1 week prior

HowNice23 · 06/12/2023 13:09

I remember getting private reassurance scans. They were about 70 quid but that was 16 years ago! Maybe an option if you're struggling with the wait x

Ttcmumma · 06/12/2023 13:21

I got a private reassurance scan for £55 at ultrasound direct, was worth. Every penny if you've got it x

MoaningMolly · 06/12/2023 14:34

Nobody can say for sure.

But my experience in my first pregnancy, I bled at 8 weeks (small amount) and then a huge amount (like a tap was on) with small clots at 10 weeks. That baby, Shes going to be 5 next year.

FloofCloud · 06/12/2023 14:49

Everything crossed it's just a wobble and your baby is ok - good luck

ChildOfTheMoon · 06/12/2023 15:37

@Rosiiee a pregnancy test would be utterly pointless at 7 weeks. The lines naturally get lighter around this time and it would only cause her more stress

Rosiiee · 06/12/2023 15:47

@ChildOfTheMoon alright no need to get snippy it was just a suggestion as I was told to test 2 weeks after my 12 week mc. I would’ve suggested a private scan but I know some places won’t see you before 8 weeks because it’s too early. Hope you manage to book a scan earlier OP!

SparkyBlue · 06/12/2023 15:51

Similar to others I've had a bleed that led to a MC and a bleed that led a healthy baby. With the mc I had period type cramps and the blood got heavier

J3llycat · 08/12/2023 13:43

How are you getting on @PawsAndReflection ? 💖

PawsAndReflection · 11/12/2023 22:18

Just wanted to come back and let everyone know that unfortunately the scan showed that it had gone Sad

Super sad, but we're focusing on the fact we got pregnant at all and remembering everything happens for a reason

Thank you so much to all the lovely posters that replied- hopefully I'll be back soon with better news! If I didn't have this place it would have been much, much tougher. Thank goodness for Mumsnet
