Gestational sac behind

I went for a scan this morning expecting to be 8 weeks as per date of last period. Initially the sonographer remarked sac measured 6 weeks 6 days. She then said baby measured 7 weeks 4 days. Heartbeat was seen and she did not seem concerned and gave an edd in line with 7 weeks 4 days. I have now started reading about small sacs and I’m terrified this seems to be associated with increased early miscarriage rate. The sonographer didn’t seem concerned and said even if she measured 1mm out this would change dates a few days. The difference between the crl and sac is 6.3mm. Am I panicking over nothing?

It’s not unheard of to be a few days out from last period date as it depends on timing of ovulation and implantation which is why it can vary slightly. It’s certainly positive that the scan is measuring around about your expected dates and that you’ve seen a heartbeat. Best of luck x

Yeah it’s based on a 28 day cycle, ovulating on day 14, so if that isn’t you, you could be out by a couple of days. If you ovulated late, implanted late or there was a mm mis measure those things would all put you out by a few days. I think the worry is if it’s a week or two, but 3 days I think is fine and can easily be explained away.

And with the sac of the sonographer was happy that’s all you can go on, as they said it could be easily mis measured
could you get another scan in a week or so to put your mind at ease?

Thanks so much for your reply. I think I will book another private scan just before Christmas all being well when I will be about 11 weeks. I was really hoping to tell my 2 sons at Christmas the good news and I feel I need another scan nearer the time now to re-assure me to feel confident enough to tell them.
