Hi ladies

I was told by consultant at the Eputhat in the future if we got pregnant, I will be offered progestrogen to help with growth, but I have some anxiety as it was mentioned it is only taken as a pessary vaginally, is it possible at all to take oral progestrogen? Did explain
to the doc about my fear and anxieties, one of the docs we spoke to a few weeks ago understand my anixiety but this one said no alternative to the pessary, is this true? feeling hopeful for the future but nervous about this. Does it hurt (never had internal examination/pessarys or any kind of internal test)

Hi OP! There are different ways you can take progesterone but the (Cyclogest) pessary is the most common for pregnant women in the UK. You can insert the pessary vaginally, by pushing it up inside you using a finger, or you can insert it anally. Neither method hurts at all.

I have chosen to go with the up the bum method because in my experience, it's less messy than the vaginal option! Depending on your dose, you can just insert one before you got to bed - they're very small, and shaped a little like bullets, and your sphincter is a muscle that sort of sucks them up, so it's incredibly easy. If you choose this method your stool will be a little waxy, so don't be alarmed if you notice this.

Good luck, OP.

I am on progesterone after two losses and I take it orally, 10mg twice a day. It's called Duphaston. You may be able to request it?

Edit: I'm not in the UK. But oral progesterone definitely exists!
