Anxiety after Boostrix IPV

Hello. a week ago I had the vaccine boostrix ipv (diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus and polio). and I've had so much anxiety since taking it because I'm so afraid that the fetus has been damaged by the vaccine. I can't relax, sleep, and I cry every day and regret taking the vaccine. I feel so stupid and that I should have thought much longer about the vaccine than I did.

I just listened to the doctor but should have done more research myself. I feel so stupid and angry at myself :( I will never be able to forgive myself if my child gets hurt because of me..

@Sa11yCinnamon I think I probably should have thought more before I went and got the vaccine in the first place. then I would have stopped being so afraid and feeling guilty afterwards. so that is probably what would have been the best in my situation.

It sounds to me like if you had thought about it a bit more you wouldn't have done it and then your baby would be at increased risk of contracting whooping cough, so it's a good thing you didn't really.

@MargotBamborough Yes it is true. if I had known that I would be so scared afterwards, I probably wouldn't have taken the vaccine.

@Mia098 and then if your baby contracted whooping cough and got severely ill, you would have forever regretted not taking the vaccine. You can't win with anxiety, mum guilt and the sorts.

Mia098 · 08/12/2023 17:48

@Ttcmumma no, I probably can't. but there is extremely little infection here where I live. they say it might be but it isn't right now. therefore, it feels more stupid of me to take the vaccine than not to. but I can't take back what's been done, I just have to work on accepting it.
