Ive just posted this on the antenatal thread but im hoping someone on here might be able to help. I just had appointment with nurse to confirm pregnancy 5+3 weeks. And i said whilst im in here whats this rash? Its all over my tummy, worst on my boobs and some on my upper thigh. They are like raised red weals which have gone dry.

She took one look and laughed saying yep thats "psoriasis of blah blah blah pregnancy." I couldnt catch the long weird name and asked her to repeat it and still missed it. she said it was a classic reaction to pregnancy hormone and assumed i had had it for 2/3 weeks which i have and that it started with one patch which she called something like a heal spot?!!!

im not worried but i was so excited about my EDD etc i didnt probe further and now im intrigued. I cant find anything on google. I know its mild psorasis patches but i cant find anothing specific to pregnancy. does anyone know what she was saying because she sounded like the teacher from charlie browns school to me!!!

Thanks for bumping. I cant find anything that sounds remotely like what she said but she was talking with such confidence. Im gonna have to learn to write things down from now on! Im sure i will be faced with far more baffling terms than this one!

It definatly wasnt puppp. could be the latter as she said "of pregnancy". Thought id wait for my midwife booking in appoint and ask again.

I was just really fascinated in the way your body reacts to pregnancy. Ive been whinging about a rash for two weeks and a nurse takes one look and knows im pregnant!

Its not attractive to my husband but all symptoms at this stage are reassuring that I am indeed pregnant!

Long shot - could she have said it was a "herald patch"? I had one of those when I had a rash called pityriasis rosea years ago, but I've just googled that and can't see anything called "pityriasis rosea of pregnancy", so might be way off. Just a thought, anyway.

Tinkerisdead · 14/03/2008 08:32

Yes yes thats it a herald patch or herald spot! im off to google again now!

yes that looks exactly it, thank you Inquisitive!! xx what is the nurse on about pregnancy? the only thing I found is that its noticeably higher in pregnant women due to lower immunity!

I love this site, someone always has the answer.
