Undercooked meat !?!

Hello

On Saturday, I accidentally consumed what I believed to be a small amount of undercooked pork (2 dim sum). I purposely made myself vomit after as I wanted to get as much out as I could but I know I wasn’t able to get it all out. I have been reading things on the internet about risk of toxoplasmosis. I am around 13 weeks pregnant. prior to pregnancy, I was a regular eater of rare steak/ cured meats and also steak tartar when abroad.

I called the emergency midwife helpline who said she wasn’t concerned as it was not in a large quantity. I am still anxious … should I be worried or am I a panicked new time pregnant woman?

Has this happened to anyone else??
Thank you

If it helps, I had medium rare steak at a wedding when I was around 28 weeks pregnant a few months ago. I then had terrible diarrhoea overnight and like you, I got myself in an absolute panic over toxoplasmosis etc. I also normally eat rare/cured meat. The midwife wasn’t concerned and I’m now 39 weeks and the baby is fine 😊 so try not to worry, I know it’s hard. X

I ate very pink steak on two occasions early on in pregnancy and nothing came of it, but like you I was worried at the time so I do understand! x

Don't worry, it will be okay, these things happen all the time. With my first pregnancy I used to obsess and worry all the time following the advice by the book. Now I'm quite happily eating limited amounts of liver, undercooked beef, drinking raw milk, having soft egg yolks,... And it's all fine. The risk of food contamination is quite low.

It's fine to eat runny eggs! As long as they got the lion stamp on them
