Third trimester ... this is awful 🤕

No real reason for posting . Just having such a tough few days.

Not long into my third trimester and everything feels like it has ramped up. I had quite an easier first and second trimester in terms of the way I felt (had some other issues). I was generally able to go about day to day life as normal and never even sick!!!

  • Right now I have iron levels that are near non existent and plummeted . Waiting for infusion effects to kick in.
  • Diagnosed with GD and trying to get to grips with it and now being high risk.
  • I have no energy or go in me at all.
  • Feel like I am failing at work and not putting enough effort into my friendships and relationship (although friends and dp all very supportive)
  • Look disgusting - face broken out. Huge bags. Carrying super low. Arms the size of trees!!!!
  • Getting panic attacks during the night for no reason. Just waking up frantic then cannot get back off.

Anyone else just struggling atm?
I am overall grateful of course I am . Can't wait to have our son or daughter here but wow , I am shocked people do this over and over again and might have to consider an only HAHA!

My daughter is at 36 weeks and she has fucking had it. She can't sleep, she feels like she can barely move, constantly going to the bathroom, horrendous reflux, and she wants to cry having to go to work in the morning. She's hungry all of the time but nothing appeals to her. She's a proper mess!

Even if your pregnancy has been relatively easy and uneventful, it is hard work growing a human.

The only words of comfort I can offer is that your precious baby will be here soon and this part of the journey will be over! Congratulations!

I was quite well physically but when I had DS 1 the 3rd trimester wrecked my moods. It was bizarre and I was very tired, weepy, angry with DH for even breathing, decided I didn't want him at the birth, I slept (badly) in the spare room. I was awful to him.

I recall telling the midwife who said it was hormonal and not uncommon. It literally stopped two days after I started maternity leave- just vanished. I still feel awful about it. He says he never took it personally but it was personal- it was about him and I was very difficult. Never happened with DS2 or DD.

Four pregnancies and I never glowed - I only felt awful the entire time.

As a result when I had teeny babies I loved it because despite being sleep deprived at no point did I feel as bad as I did when I was pregnant.
I really feel for you. Xx

Sorry you're feeling this way OP 😔

I'm just in the 3rd trimester too and also been feeling it in this pregnancy (pregnancy with DS 3 years ago seems like a walk in the park in comparison - I glowed and felt great and I'm gutted this isn't the case this time around 🤦🏼‍♀️😅).

I've also just been diagnosed with GD and have found the Gestational Diabetes UK group on Facebook and the website with recipes a HUGE help - maybe check them out if you haven't already.

Also, your night time panic attacks may possibly be linked to your low iron levels - from previous experience this can cause feelings of irritability and anxiety / panic attacks/ heart palpitations, etc. Hopefully this will level out with your transfusions 🤞🏼

We've got this, we're on the home stretch now! Cuddling baby at the end of it all makes it worth it x

Thanks all - do appreciate the comments! So glad I am not alone!!! This has made me feel better.
It is a rough ride!

plan was to work up to 37 weeks but honestly thinking of bringing it forward to 36 knowing I'll probs not go past term with GD. Just the money aspect!! I just don't know how I am suppose to keep going for much longer ahhhh!!!

@Lottie917 O I hadn't really thought of the iron making me anxious or the panic attacks that's interesting! God the infusion cannot kick in quick enough!!!

DD is now 6 months, but I know what you mean.

But iron infusions are amazing. Truly amazing. I went from feeling like I had the worst flu ever to almost literally bouncing (at about 36 weeks!). Hang in and you will get better.
