hello!

Firstly, I know that CB digital are not a direct science and are overpriced considering the potential for inaccuracy. I have a history of a lot of chemical/early pregnancies. Yay I am pregnant - currently 5weeks and 1 day (or around there - pinpointed ovulation with my doctor as sunday 3 weeks ago).

I have been on CB digital 2-3 weeks for 1 week now. I had my bloods checked last week, and they doubled every 33 hours, not 24. The doctor didnt seem fussed but booked me in for an early scan in 2 weeks. My partner is away at that point so im nervous of a "shock" at the scan when i turn up on my own.

ive also read that CB Digital 3+ weeks needs 2753 HCG - which I should have had on sunday EASILY because my level was 1997 on friday.

Do you think im being paranoid? I dont "feel" pregnant other than really sore boobs. The way i found out about a few chemicals was because my CB went down from 2-3 to 1-2 and then not pregnant. I just want to be prepared.
would you try get an early scan? the rate my levels increased is also potentially a concern but not as far as my doc is concerned!
thank you

Have you tried another test type where you can see the lines? I took digital tests but along side cheaper easy@home tests. I felt like seeing the visible line progression there was far more reliable than the digital. Just started having my first dye stealers.

@brummieyummymummy , I didn't get that 3+ week clear blue until I was well over 6 weeks.

I know I ignored people when they were telling me at the time- but they really are not to be relied upon to provide confirmation of a viable pregnancy.

Rusticanella · 27/11/2023 13:08

But yes, I would get an early scan personally. I think I had mine at 6+3.

brummieyummymummy · 27/11/2023 13:10

thanks everyone. soi do also have the pink dye one , same brand (i know im being a bit crazy to test so much!). The line is as dark as yesterday - which is pretty dark, potentially cannot go darker. but I just dont understand that if that is the threshold for 3+ weeks, how am i not yet at 3+ weeks? and if it was rising more than the rule of "hcg should double every 48 hours" should I be concerned?

Rusticanella · 27/11/2023 13:11

Honestly @brummieyummymummy I was exactly the same as you, drove myself crazy over them. Just couldn't see how it wasn't showing as 3+. I also had blood tests to confirm HGC levels.

The only thing I can say is that are more a marketing thing and just aren't that accurate

brummieyummymummy · 27/11/2023 13:17

thank you @Rusticanella
wont have any money left at this rate!

got a scan tomorrow - now im really nervous! maybe too soon to see a heartbeat?! but i guess good to know either way if it isnt working

OP posts:
Rusticanella · 27/11/2023 14:58

@brummieyummymummy I think it might be too early for heartbeat? Think you have to be at least 6, and even then it can be a bit early. But when I was in your position, even just a scan to say, "yep, sac and yolk looks good" would have comforted me.

brummieyummymummy · 27/11/2023 15:00

thanks so much @Rusticanella

well you are right - no heartbeat. I suppose at best, i could confirm its in the right place and looks ok.

Chasingbaby2 · 27/11/2023 15:12

Same for me. Couldn't get past 2-3, yet HCG was confirmed as 22000 only a day later. Worried sick at the time of course, good luck at your scan.

Bananaboat24 · 27/11/2023 15:53

Hello and hope everything goes well in your scan!! I am currently 8DPO and just took a test (not FMU) I have sore boobs, which I never have. can swear I see a faint line when putting the test to light. Do you see a line? Or am I too early testing?

@Chasingbaby2 thank you for sharing this information, very helpful to know.
I will let you know how the scan goes! When they said that the HCG was doubling so quickly i thought perhaps twins... but it seems not as im pretty sure that twins would give 3+ at 5 weeks and 2 days

@Bananaboat24 i do see a faint line. Definitely re-test in the morning with FMU

I remember with my latest baby I got 2-3 weeks at 3+3 (so four days early) and then had a spare test so did it at 6 weeks and it still said 2-3. According to Clearblue's numbers, that's impossible for a healthy pregnancy. But that baby was born perfectly healthy, so no idea why it didn't register the hormone levels properly. The packet does say that the weeks indicator is only accurate for 93% of women. Some of us have to be the 7%!

brummieyummymummy · 27/11/2023 18:02

Thank you @JammieJem its good to know and I hope im in the 7% as well!!

Hi everyone
Well - what a day
Had to cancel my scan because my boss wanted me to join for a work lunch
So rescheduled to tomorrow

Called the restaurant (sushi!) ahead and they told me the salmon is frozen
Had a tiny cured salmon for starter, ate stupidly 2 of the 3 (set menu) and realised probably not a good idea
Spoke to restaurant afterwards to be sure/said it fine, we freeze fish first
Then called again just now to say apologies but we actually don't and chef confirms that salmon you ate cured was fresh !
What is the risk? If I'm
In first trimester?

Then I did cb digital again, came back 2-3 weeks
This is the last 3 results -including today-from my hcg test

Just so worried it will go down to 1-2 weeks. I don't understand if I was 2700 last week, I'm still not getting 3 plus? Especially when I'm 5 weeks and 3 or 2 days

OP posts:
TheShellBeach · 28/11/2023 16:45

OP you're torturing yourself here.
All these tests. And none of them will change the outcome.

I'm so sorry you're feeling so anxious at the moment.

Even tomorrow's scan isn't really going to give you peace of mind. How will you react if they don't see the heartbeat yet, which would be normal at this stage?

Why don't you put the money you're spending on pregnancy tests and "reassurance scans" into an account for the baby?
I do understand - I've had a lot of miscarriages myself.

brummieyummymummy · 28/11/2023 17:26

Thank you @TheShellBeach
You are right - and I appreciate the perspective. I think I'm just trying to control the delivery of any bad news... thinking at least if I had seen 3+ I would feel reassured.
or if I saw 1-2 I would not be so shocked if the scan is bad news tomorrow or measures smaller.
anyway - i know youre right! I keep searching for answers taht just arent there. Im a bit scarred from previously when i tested and it went down 2-3 to 1-2.
and then i miscarried.

thank you for reading x

OP I wouldn’t worry yet if I was you. You have to think 3+ is basically 5 weeks+ since conception, even if you know your ovulation date you don’t know when implantation occurred for example.

I think I was about 6 weeks when I did a clear blue test and got the 3+ then. Fingers crossed your scan goes well today and it gives you some reassurance.

I know it’s easier said than done but honestly try not to stress, step away from the tests. Even the line tests, they are not meant to be used to track progression, they are just positive or negative. Try not to torture yourself. I was exactly the same and now 20 weeks pregnant I wish I had been able to relax and enjoy my early pregnancy more rather than spending every day worrying x

TheShellBeach · 29/11/2023 18:58

I hope your scan went well, OP.

champagneproblems13 · 29/11/2023 19:13

Hope your scan went well. ❤️

brummieyummymummy · 30/11/2023 14:50

thank you so much everyone. Im sorry for the radio silence. The scan was fine - there was a fetal pole and a small yolk sac, measuring 5 weeks and 3 days which is bang on really. no heartbeat yet but i can go back in 10 days to check.
thank you so much everyone for your support. its been a funny old week - mixo f emotions, and panicking about all sorts -now worrying im too old as im just past 40... its endless the anxiety!!! next worry - work.. it doesnt stop, hopefully the hormones!!!
thanks again to the brilliant Mumsnet community xxxx
