Hi, I'm 5+3, this is my first pregnancy and I'm very anxious and overthinking everything I eat and drink. I research everything and hopefully I'll calm down once I'm in 2nd trimester and have first scan. I'm mid 30s and been trying for a while so just extra cautious.

I'm a bit unsure if I can eat frozen chips? Obviously not all of the time but just as a one off?

Thank you

Why can’t you? Just go on the nhs website, there’s very little you can’t eat.

Im 9 weeks and 3 days today, 35 years old and done IVF so very much wanted and planned for and even dieted for so my plan was absolutely to eat well throughout but was totally surprised when all I wanted was carbs and very plain food, I've never wanted chips/jacket potato and Chinese egg fried rice as much in my entire life 😂

My GP told me to eat while I can, be mindful but mainly as PP said check out the avoid list on NHS. Frozen chips will be fine, better that than from a chippy. I made that mistake and was up hours with pain, think it was the grease and the slowed down digestion.

I know it's not easy but don't beat yourself up about food wants at this stage, baby will pull on your supply. Just when you feel up to it get some orange juice or fruit down you but you'll see on here some people who live on toast or cereal for first trimester as cannot stomach anything else

Of course you can. Smile I ate lots of veggies with meat/chicken/fish with a takeaway treat every now and then. I did notice if I had eaten too many takeaways between my scans, the baby was getting bigger and then if I didn't eat she grew more in line with expectations so be mindful with unhealthy food.

Thank you so much that really reassures me. You're right, sickness and cravings are the issue 😂 I'm just concentrating on eating anything when I can then when I'm less sickly trying to be more healthy. I'm aware of the big avoids such as unpasteurised and cured meats etc but there's so much conflicting info out there from different individual experiences. I wish you lots of luck, health and happiness going forward x

All I could stomach with both of mine for the first trimester was melon and crisps and they turned out ok! It's scary when you're pregnant with your first but you will get used to it soon enough
