Good evening everyone. Just looking for advice as my last resort here. Since being 6weeks pregnant I've suffered with serious all day nausea them around 8 weeks it turned to sickness & nausea and only
Got worse. Couldn't cook as I couldn't stand the smell of food, couldn't get out of bed or even look after my kids for a while. This made me get depressed a lot my house got terrible as my partner works full time but he helped tremendously. I'm now 12+2 days. I've tried 6 different medications and nothing not one of them are working. I keep thinking im bothering the doctors a lot but she said there's one last medication but needs to be given in second trimester as it can cause cleft lip. I don't trust doctors as I've had problems with them before so im scared to even try them as she was ready to give me them at 11+2 days. Can anyone shed some light on what can help me im so fed up and I can't take this sickness no more it's projectile everytime I eat☹️

Hey! Im you from the future! I’m currently 27+1 and I haven’t been sick/felt sick from about 17/18 weeks.
the tablets your talking about were offered to me also by the GP (after several others tried and not working) and the exact same was said to me and that made me super worried. I contacted my midwife and she said that it was perfectly safe to take and she’s been a midwife for over 40 years lol
This is the sucky part. I took them, they didn’t work. I got really bad headaches from them and still felt so sick but hang in there, it’s super deflating and can really put a downer on things but I hope you are like me in the way that once the weeks 17/18 hit, I was like a new woman. No more laying in bed, no more sickness or feeling sick. I could eat and drink properly again. I felt ‘normal’. I really hope you will be ok.

I’m 14+6 and still have off an on episodes on feeling unwell but nothing like it was before.

Keep on at the doctors to get something that works for you. Like the above person said, I got terrible headaches on the tablets but I’d take that over feeling constantly sick or being sick often. I couldn’t work at the height of my sickness and I’ve lost over half a stone since falling pregnant from being unwell.

Try to eat little and often, bland carbs like toast and potatoes were the only thing I could comfortably stomach, I still can’t have anything sweet without being immediately sick.

It does get better but keep on at the doctors for the right meds.

Hi all, nothing helpful to add OP except solidarity. I’m 7 weeks today and suffering horribly. Started Cyclizine last week which seemed to help at first, but feeling crap again today so might have to go back to the docs on Monday…

@Pandapro omg I'm hoping so much tht this turns around I have 3 children to look after while partner works and it's so hard I dread tea time the amount of ready made meals and takeaways I've had to get ( mostly healthy) but I cannot stomach the smell of food in my kitchen. I feel like a terrible parent I haven't spent time with them or taken them out. I'm trying to ride it out alone as I can't take the hope of new tablets not working lol!. I have a phobia of being sick infront of people so this makes it so much better when doing school run!

@SarahB88 yeah I feel you so much it's a stuggle! All worth it in the end but man it feels like it drags so much!

@Amberellaella Aw hun I feel you at that stage I was always nauseous I used to eat dry crackers and it helped a lot eat one before getting out of bed I kept them at side of my bed. But then I actually started being sick at 8 weeks and now cannot keep anything down unless it's lettuce and strawberries

@rahrsh my heart really goes out to you. I will say don’t be so hard on yourself but I know it’s easier said than done. I was so sick that I had to take time off work, couldn’t go shopping, cooking wasn’t a thing, absolutely no judgement from me on whether or not it’s healthy food you or your family is consuming. You do what you have to do. If having something ‘unhealthy’ takes a load off your plate then go for it sunshine! I really hope you’re like me and in a little while (although it will feel like a life time away) you will wake one day and feel fab or at least better. Pregnancy is hard on you anyway, it’s physically exhausting, mentally and emotionally draining. Give yourself some credit. You a literally making a human just now. With organs, functions, blood, bones …. The lot! It’s not an easy task when you have an ‘easy’ pregnancy, never mind constant sickness or nausea (which I found to be worse) the fact that you get up to do ANYTHING is amazing just now, so remember that! I have my fingers crossed for you and if you do try these new tablets I hope they work for you.

Amberellaella · 26/11/2023 07:16

I agree @rahrsh - I have a 2.5 year old and looking after her while feeling like this is hard! I think it would be much easier if I could just take to my bed. Luckily I work full time so she’ll be in nursery Mon - Thurs all day and I can get some rest…

I’ve tried crackers - no luck sadly.

Veenah · 26/11/2023 07:26

I haven't found a magic cure but acupuncture has helped somewhat, I was sceptical but gave it a go when really desperate and on the verge of screaming if one more person recommended ginger biscuits! I couldn't handle smells at all, vomited every time my husband cooked meat and couldn't set foot in my work canteen. It's definitely improved with acupuncture.

I had such great intentions of eating really healthily during pregnancy but it's just a matter of what I can stomach, I tell myself that if I'm taking vitamins that's the best I can do at the moment.

Sotired22 · 26/11/2023 07:31

High dose vitamin B6 really helped me. Holland & Barrett! It’s awful, I sympathise

Cumulonimbusincus · 26/11/2023 07:36

Gingernut biscuits. Especially one in bed in the morning before even trying to sit up. And sparkling water.

Amberellaella · 26/11/2023 07:37

I’ve been taking 100mg vit b6 in the morning, and I do seem to feel a bit better in the mornings so maybe that’s why. I’m going to try and split it into 2 x 50 today to see if that works better.

PurplePastaBake · 26/11/2023 10:05

The medication she’s referring to is Ondansetron, and the increased risks are actually very very small.
A pregnancy without ondansetron has a risk of 11:10000 of cleft palate, a pregnancy with ondansetron has a risk of 14:10000. It is the only thing that worked for my HG. It’s worth doing your own research before ruling it out.
Hope you feel better soon. I’m 16 weeks and only just had my first 24 hours without vomiting, but Ondansestron reduced it to 1-2 times a day with no nausea vs 20+ with constant nausea.

rahrsh · 26/11/2023 18:23

@PurplePastaBake oh wow I may give it a go. It's just because she told me that but was ready to give me it when I was still only 11 weeks. And had to call me back so she could research it but still got it wrong, thankyou I'll try that

Hope it helps soon. Mine took a few hours to start working but I’ve not looked back since.

Amberellaella · 29/11/2023 09:56

Yep, hope it kicks in for you soon @rahrsh. I seem to be getting on better with the Cyclizine+b6 combo. Still knackered all the time (but doesn't help that DD is in a waking up at 5:30 phase) but much less sick.

Hollie23m · 05/02/2024 07:15

Hello guys

this might be a long one so bare with me

I’m a mummy of 3 girls 10-8-6 i am also on 20mg of citalopra. I am pregnant with baby no4 I’m 7 weeks and 5days and have not been well for 2 weeks started with nausea and fatigue but then got worse I started being sick couldn’t sleep hot sweats then I got a cold. I had nausea with my other pregnancy but nothing like this I’m finding it so hard to do normal daily tasks I have no energy and standing for long times I feel like I’m going to pass out. I work this time and have been off work but am back tomorrow and am worried I work I’m a fish and chip shop so I’m so worried about going back to work.

im not sure what I’m asking just any advice

thank you guys

Amberellaella · 05/02/2024 08:21

@Hollie23m my advice would be to take sick leave from work if you need it and rest as much as your body is telling you too.

If your meds aren’t working then get back to the doctor to try something else.

Hope it passes for you soon x

Hollie23m · 05/02/2024 10:42

Thank you I’m going to see how I go tomorrow I m just so tired. I don’t want to up my meds because iv been on them for 5 years now and they have never done me wrong but just can’t shake this feeling and can’t seem to get back on top
