Hi everyone,

I had a positive pregnancy test 3 days ago which I tested 4 times to make double sure, i had bloods taken yesterday and I had a scan today and there telling me they can’t find any sign of pregnancy in the scan they have done and that my hormone levels are lower than usual in early pregnancy mine are 500 and they should be over 1000, they’ve now mentioned about an ectopic pregnancy, and how my tubes might burst and leave me anemic or something and I may collapse so I am now absolutely beside myself and so so scared, I do have very high anxiety in regards to health but has anyone else had something like this that they can relate to?

thank you

How many weeks are you? Pretty sure they can't see anything until like 5/6 weeks in?

@Nanaxx you need to start your own thread so people can see your question and reply directly to you. Your situation isn't like the OPs

OP do you know the date of the start of your last period or approx when you ovulated? You can check from how many weeks you would be.

When you refer to "they" is this early pregnancy unit or a fertility clinic?

I only ask this as I went with a Fertility clinic and they don't do scans until the 6-7 week mark as you can't see the location of the pregnancy. Eptopic is where the fertilised egg had implanted in the wrong area and yest although those things can happen you usually get some warning signs so please do have a look at what to look out for.

The HCG numbers are suchhhhhh a wide scale so early on that it's hard to go off those really.

Sometimes unfortunately a pregnancy will stop progressing very early on, this is for various reasons and people later miscarriage when the body realises.

Have the clinic or hospital asked you to go back again in a week/10 days for a further check?

Yes the first day of my last period was 23rd October
This is the gynaecology emergency unit and early pregnancy assessment unit, they only scanned me this early as I had a follow up scan from 6 months ago as a small cyst was found on my right ovarie and Ive been having some discomfort/ pain on my right side but have been for the last 6 months so they was checking my ovaries again and that’s when they said all of the above about not seeing any sign of pregnancy etc etc, I had a blood test last night but they’ve booked me in for another blood test to check my levels again tomorrow evening

If your period was 23rd October, you are only around 4 weeks 3 days, they can't see anything at this stage. So I wouldn't worry yet, a repeat scan at around 6/7 weeks is going to tell you a lot more.

ttcsolomumtobe · 23/11/2023 19:28

Yea, it's strange they are mentioning eptopic this early because as pp mentioned really they wouldn't be able to see anything yet and that's why they look to scan at 6 weeks. If it was in the wrong location it would give them time to unfortunately remove it but luckily before doing any damage. I would just stay focused on looking after you and think of yourself as pregnant and follow the avoid food guidelines etc. the blood tests will tell more and then a scan will also

Thank you, I know they have to tell you worst case scenario but telling someone like me something like that is the worst thing ever, I just see the negative in absolutely everything, they’ve told me to watch out for pains in lower belly at one side, pains across my shoulders, bleeding/ brown discharge, discomfort with toilet use, I’m sitting here thinking I’m having these pains now in my belly eventhough they’ve been there for the last 6 months so previous to even falling pregnant, I just get so so worried and paranoid with health related things, i just hope tomorrow the hormone levels have gone up like what there saying but it’s the waiting game I hate!
