Possible prolapse (TW picture)

Hi,

Firstly apologies for the picture. I’m currently 3 months pp from a forceps delivery and I think I have a prolapse 😞 I’ve been to see a gynaecologist and was told no prolapse but was examined lying down. When I stand up there is definitely something at the back of my vagina that wasn’t there before birth. Does it look like a rectocele?

It does look like a rectocele. I was seen by three doctors and told there was nothing wrong - until one examined me standing up! She was a GP who specialised in post-natal gynae issues. Surprised a gynaecologist didn’t do this, mine got me to stand with my foot on a stool and knelt at my feet. Undignified but nice to know I wasn’t going mental.

Obvs if you look online you’ll see lots of similar pictures. Sorry OP. Maybe worth going private for a second opinion if you can afford it? It’ll be a couple of hundred pounds but once it’s confirmed they can always refer you back into the NHS.

Hi, thank you for your reply I thought it was but they said no 😞 I will be asking someone else in a few weeks.

does it look like a stage 1 or 2? I really hope something can be done about it x

I’ve now been told by 3 different specialists that it’s not a prolapse but to me it definitely doesn’t look right 😥 I’m just wondering if anyone else has a rectocele that looks like mine

I went to my gp yesterday and was told i have a rectocele. Ive been refered to urogynocology. Hoping they recommend surgery. You know your own body if something doesnt feel right get another opinion

@amybobs

can you see something inside? I’m part of some prolapse groups on facebook and doctors really don’t like doing surgery apparently until it’s hanging out 😩 it just annoys me because it’s not them that has to live with it!

I’ve been told it’s laxity of the vaginal wall because of the 3rd degree tear I had 😩 it looks slightly better than what it did a few months ago but I’ve been doing pelvic floor exercises daily.

Nothing is hanging out of me no. When gp examined me she said it was a rectocele. Have you had trouble emptying your bowels? Thats my main symptom.
Hope you get the answers you want

I can't see anything wrong (not a doctor though). It's still early days from the birth so things are likely still recovering, also sadly our vagina never looks the same after giving birth x

Mumofonexo · 10/04/2024 21:13

@amybobs
I’m happy for you that nothing is hanging out, I feel so sorry for women who’s prolapse does as it must be so sore and uncomfortable 😣

No I have the opposite problem unfortunately. I’ve just felt like something was rubbing inside my vagina 😩

Really sorry to hear about your prolapse though no woman should have to go through it. Have they offered you physiotherapy?

@BusyCaz

Thank you 🫣 she is not looking her best after birth that’s for sure! I wish women would be honest and say it changes! I got told it goes back to normal… utter lies

I guess after 3 hours of pushing, forceps and a 3rd degree tear it’s never going to look that great again lol! Thank god no one else can see it x

Thank you . Never felt the same after my 3rd child but was told there was nothing wrong. Felt like its got worse over the years and have just put up with it and almost dont know what is normal anymore.
GP said they will go through options at my appointment either physio, pessary or surgury. Probably be waiting a while though.

BusyCaz · 11/04/2024 11:20

@Mumofonexo It never does look the same, mine looks ragged round the edges and if i look i can see the vagina wall (which is all bumpy not smooth - completely normal)

It's something us women never usually look at (and if we do it's a neat tidy probably operated on one via tv etc) xx

Mumofonexo · 11/04/2024 13:34

@amybobs
bless you 😞 sorry to be personal but I’m not sure how old you are. Are you peri menopausal?
It’s so frustrating being told nothing is wrong when you know your own body!

I hope you aren’t left too long. I did invest in the kegel 8 machine and I can honestly say it’s helped me. No peeing when I sneeze anymore! I had this horrible rubbing feeling inside my vagina too and would feel it constantly it’s now very rare I can feel something rubbing which is amazing.

@BusyCaz
Did you tear giving birth too? I wish people would be honest with mum’s and say it does change as it wouldn’t be such a shock!
it’s nice to know you think it looks normal though.

oh yes it all gets edited and photoshopped anyway. We already have so much to worry about and pressure to look a certain way without worrying if your lady parts look normal xx

Im 39 and not peri-menipausal....yet
Ive got a kegal 8 machine too. Tbh i do my pelvic floor exercises often and dont have any problems with urine leaks etc so dont see how physio would be beneficial as im sure my rectocele is pasted the point of no return . As Its more my bowels and emptying them is a such a problem 😭

Yeah I tore giving birth and also was grazed internally. I had 2 babies naturally, the second was traumatic and had shoulder dystocia, 3rd was emergency c section. I wish more women were aware how there bodies are naturally
