Hi ladies,
5+4 today. I did had some brown discharge in my panty liner today. Nothing when whipping or ever since. Although I do experience some mild cramping like AF quite a few days now.
We had an early scan yesterday and dr could see a hematoma in one of the sacs?!
he told be not to worry and that bleeding and cramping will be normal at this stage!

guess what? I can’t help but stressing about it and think the worst.

anyone experienced something similar? Hematoma?

I had a hematoma too at around 6 years weeks. Was rushed to the hospital bleeding lots and they told me there was a 50/50 chance I would miscarry!

Also, my hematoma was quite large. (Depends on the size). But the bigger it is, the more dangerous. My OB gave me pills to help with the hematoma and each week when I went to get scanned it got smaller and smaller till it disappeared.

I have gave birth to a lovely and healthy child. No issues!

It is quite normal and try not to worry. If it’s small it will prob just be reabsorbed into the body and clear up on its own quite soon.

Yes. I had a lot of pain and then suddenly lots of blood started gushing down my legs. I had to be rushed to the hospital.

After that, I still had some mild spot bleeding over the next couple of weeks I think. But nothing too serious. Just tiny spots.

CB2805 · 22/11/2023 14:13

@KenGirl I’m so glad it end well for you. It’s giving me so much hope as I started having more brown discharge accompanied with quite painful cramps!
although I’m not gonna lie I do believe it’s the end for me, even my boobs stopped hearting today!

@CB2805 Did he give you any pills such as cyclogest? You insert this inside yourself and it helps to thicken the lining of the womb so helps to sort of help with miscarriages somewhat.

The little bits of blood after could be normal. A haemotoma is basically a blood clot. So it could just be fragments of blood that remain that pass. That happened to me too. Also, the blood was dark which means old blood. Not fresh blood.

The next few days may be a bit stressful. But try to remain hopeful. What I did was just got into bed and stayed there for a week!! Sadly, I also got incredible sick so I ended up being stuck in bed for the whole 9mths. Anyway try to take it easy and don’t exert yourself too much.

Also, if your heamotoma is small, it’s not going to be too dangerous. That said, mine was quite large and possibly the more “threatening” kind but it gradually decreased in size over time. I think he may have also given me some pills to help string the haematoma but I can’t recall for sure.

@KenGirl last day I just had some spotting on panty liner not much, today when I whipped I had way more it’s dark brown so far although today was accompanied with cramps.
as my pregnancy is an IVF one I’m with progesterone pills and injections since my positive, so don’t believe is much more that can be done at this point.
Spoke with my dr this morning he doesn’t seem very bothered and believes it’s normal. He will see me on Friday for a scan.
tbh with you I’m not that bothered about the blood(cause as you said it’s brown so old) but more about the cramps.

Hope the scan goes well. Keep us posted that everything is ok xxx

I had some cramps and bleeding and a hematoma around the same stage as you are now. I had a fair amount of bleeding but the hematoma shrank on its own and the bleeding stopped.
The rest of my pregnancy was normal and I had my baby 2 months ago.
Hope everything works out well for you. Smile

CB2805 · 22/11/2023 18:07

@Bun14 hi thanks for sharing! How big was your bleeding? I just started bleeding so I believe I’m out

I can totally emphasise and understand how worried you must be because I too had this happen.

I had three big bleeds (I’m talking clots the size of plums, being taken to hospital, boood quite literally gushing when I stood up etc). I also had bad cramps and was spotting fried brown blood constantly (every time I wiped, there was blood and clots).

I assumed (as did the hospital) that it was a miscarriage and take over. When I had my scan, it was a Hematoma that was enormous. It was about triple the size of the baby and they said essentially it was 50/50.

i took it super easy for 6 weeks (no lifting, minimal activity, only light walking etc) and fast forward to my 12 week scan, the blood had been reabsorbed by my body.

Try not to worry too much, I’ve read so many happy outcomes- hopefully yours will be too x

@LondonGirl1992 thanks for that, it really gave me so much hope right now. Just had a bleed with fresh blood! Freak out immediately and run to the loo. Doesn’t feel my panty liner just some brown spotting there. I can’t notice any clots either so far. It calmed down just brown when whipping now.
honestly I’m so confused I hope and wish for the best, although cramping was bad so I believe was a start of mc.
how intense was your cramping at the time?

I think one thing that could keep your mind at rest, is if you did IVF, you may have done embryo testing? In which case, it’s a low chance to have a miscarriage since most are due to abnormalities.

Honestly, I had a massive heamotoma. And it was ok. This is actually quite normal to happen too. And if the blood is dark / brown, again, try not to worry. That’s very old blood so likely just lingering and only now coming out.

My cramping was so bad that I was up most of the night before my scan! Just to let you know, a subchorionic Hematoma is especially common in IVF pregnancies too. I have hope that you too have what I had :)

if you so, push push push to be put on progesterone pessaries if you’re not already!

CB2805 · 23/11/2023 10:28

@LondonGirl1992@KenGirl thanks ladies for the support last day you kept me sane🩵
had a scan this morning with my dr babies seem well and growing, he believes the heartbeat is about to start in one or two day. Can’t wait for next scan next week🤭

ps I’m still spotting brown when whipping tho, dr ordered blood tests for progesterone and estrogen to see if he should lower something?!
anyway good thing is bleeding stopped and cramps are so so light now🤞🤞

Hi sorry for the late reply!

My bleeding was a fair amount. So much that I was convinced I was having another miscarriage. I had some clots too.
