I had an emergency c section 4 years ago, I lost quite a bit of blood as was on iron tablets afterwards and was suspected for sepsis (thankfully didn’t have it). I was fine within a few days, and as soon as I went home I felt much better tbh. I’m opting for another c section in January if that puts your mind at ease xx

I lost a huge amount of blood during a miscarriage a few years ago but had a planned csection last year with absolutely no problems whatsoever. It was a great experience, very calm and joyful. I can understand your worry but it's just your brain going into overdrive. You will be fine!

Hey, yes, I lost 1.5L of blood in previous births (1 vaginal and 1 csection)

I made the team aware of this during the pre-op to my recent csection and they were all very reasuring. Anyway, ended up only losing 500mls this time round! Felt much less tired this time around that's for sure. Good luck OP.

I had a planned section with ds now 11 mths. I did lose slightly more than average but everything went very smoothly and for me it was a wonderful experience. I watched a lot of positive birth videos featuring sections to prepare myself, took a tour of the theatre room on the hospitals website to familiarise myself with where I'd be, and I'd done the hypnobirthing workshops and found the breathing came in very useful.

It was a little daunting at the beginning as initially I was taken in without dh until they were confident the anesthetic was all as it should be, but I'd put in my birth plan that I was nervous and honestly the team there couldn't have been more lovely and reassuring. From first cut to ds was out was I think less than 10 minutes and then the rest was just a blur, the anesthesiologist will sit by your head and talk you through everything you're feeling and hearing which helps. I'd recommend having a playlist on your phone to play near you, so you have something to focus on when you need it. I forgot to bring mine in. I didn't really need it until the very end when dh went out with ds into recovery first then it was all so routine for the surgeons they were chatting about sofas coming in time for Xmas and I was just there in the background! It's all very quick and as long as you've something to focus on, some good breathing techniques and a calming birth partner you will do great! I wouldn't be anywhere near as nervous if we're lucky enough to get to do it a second time!

Also just to say, I was really torn on whether or not to have a section (ds was big and I was worried about shoulder dystocia). I read a LOT into it and there seemed to be a really big difference in women's experiences with planned vs unplanned sections, with planned understandably being much smoother and better recovery.

I had a 2l blood loss with my first (shoulder dystocia and 4th degree tears).

I’ve since had two c-sections. I had / have notable fibroids in my womb and was at greater risk of haemorrhage so the blood bank was alerted pre c-section but all went perfectly.

Thank you ladies this has really put my mind at ease I suffer with bad anxiety anyway so intrusive thoughts were taking over.
