Can anyone tell me about perineal repair surgery

I'm 3 months pp and had a complex second degree tear and vaginal wall tearing.

Today I went to GP and she's referred me to gynae because she thinks I may need some surgery to get it sorted. It's still a bit stingy and sore.

I wasn't expecting to be, but I'm heartbroken and a bit anxious. I can't be intimate with my husband because it's too sore, and I'm worried about surgery. Also just generally upset that I've got to go through all the healing again and the burning when I pee and all of it.

Does anyone have any experience of this? Can anyone help me to put my mind at rest please?

In a similar situation but in the early stages of the process. Can I ask how this all turned out for you? Like you I’m filled with anxiety about it all and there seems to just be limited discussion round it. I hope you’re healed and doing well

I had similar a few years ago. Surgery went well, initial recovery was a couple of weeks iirc. Very glad I had the surgery, no longer any pain and normal function returned.

Hi, not sure how it turned out for CreateComet, but couldn’t read and run.

I needed surgery after a tear that didn’t heal properly after my eldest (now 15). I was really anxious and firstly agreed to surgery where they applied silver nitrate to the problematic scar tissue in the hope it healed properly. Unfortunately it didn’t work, so I had to have the whole recut and restitch. To be honest, I wish I had agreed to that in the first place. Firstly, it solved the issues and secondly, whilst still not pleasant, recovering from surgery is so much easier when you haven’t just been through labour and have a newborn to look after. I then had an elective section with my youngest, from which I healed quicker than all of the above.
