Hello,

Pregnant with second. Had scan at 12+6.

Papp A is 0.3814MoM
Free Beta HCG is 0.4482MoM

Adjusted risk for Downs risk is 1:8089
Adjusted risk for Edwards & Patau is 1:6661 (age related chance was 1:7011)

I know these are both low risk numbers. I've just got into my own head with the low Pap A.

My friend had a baby, she had low Pap A and her baby was born with Edwards (undiagnosed until birth) and sadly passed away at 10 days old.

Now I've got low pap A this time round (fine with first) and my Edwards & Patau with my first was <1:20000, just making me anxious the chances are 1:661 paired with the pap A.

I just don't know if these numbers are a concern? I know it's not as low as others and they didn't call with concerns - but I'm assuming I'll get a letter about the low pap a as I know anything under 0.4MoM is low.

Should I be paying for the NIPT (I know for peace of mind it's worth it!) but it's a lot of money, and whilst DS wouldn't change things, personally feel the edwards would due to life expectancy which I couldn't handle mentally.

Any advice or stern words with me are very welcome x

I had low Papp-A.l In my 12 week. 0.4 (my. Midwives said 0.41 is their threshold. I'll have extra Growth scans from 28 weeks to check all is well because of this.

I paid for private NIPT. it was the best money I have ever spent. reconfirmed very low risk for everything.

Op if you can afford it - do it! X

You've put the risk as 1 in 6661 and 1 in 661. Both are very low but I might be inclined to have a nipt if it was 661.

My papp a was 0.34 with my first and risk was 1 in 390 and the nipt came back low and was worth the money as I would have been so anxious until the birth.

Gosh.. anxious typing! It was 1:6661 and I know it's 0.020% but I'm just such an anxious person in pregnancy.

Wellll.. I've been and had it privately today as I know I'll just stress for the other 27 (if we make it that far) weeks! Got 15 printed photos and 38 photos/videos which was lovely along with a 4D photo - I mean, it very much resembles an alien but a lovely one at that!

Now the wait for the results 😩 5-7w days from Wednesday when they should get the blood draw. It's with ultrasound direct and they use TDL in london. Do either of you have any experience with them?

Hey lovely, just come across this thread and I’m in a very similar situation! Just wondering how you got on??

Boymamaxx · 20/12/2023 23:48

Hello!

sorry I’ve only just seen your reply! Had the test Monday and results back Friday lunch time and all low risk with another little boy, and we’ve since had a gender scan to confirm!

did you go ahead with a nipt? Really pleased we paid the money!
