Dates confusion?!

I haven’t been tracking ovulation and have been fairly casual about even tracking period dates as after three years TTC we had given up!
Im high risk for many reasons so as soon as I got a positive pregnancy test, EPU have been involved and scanned me very early and repeatedly.
The first few times they scanned they couldn’t see anything apart from a thick lining.
The next scan they saw a gestational sack and yolk
The next scan they saw all as above which had grown plus an embryo

Then I had a scan a week after that one where they’ve seen more growth and now finally a heartbeat.

However by my rough period dates (but pretty sure I can only be a day out either way, I believe I’m now 7+5 weeks but they are measuring at 6+2

The sonographer was happy because of the progression of scans but how can the dates be so far out?
I think when I used to track ovulation when TTC DC1, I ovulated later than average but still had a pretty consistent 28 day cycle.

Has anyone had this? I’m worried!

@Igglepiggleandhisboat How far along were you when you had a scan and they couldn’t see anything? I had a scan on Tuesday thinking I was 5 + 3 but they couldn’t see anything, since then my bloods are rising and think I may just be a week earlier that suspected so was probably 4 +3 ish when they scanned. Wishing you lots of health and positivity x

You don’t usually see anything on a scan until you hit 6 weeks. Before that you might see a sac but it’s very unlikely you’d see a flicker of a heart beat.
Id try think positively as how well your pregnancy is progressing and that there’s a baby. Babies grow at such different speeds which is why the dating scan is left to 12 weeks.

@Igglepiggleandhisboat it’s awful isn’t it. I’m an anxious wreck constantly so understand how you’re feeling xx

The egg is so tiny at that stage that the tiniest change in measurement can make a huge difference to dates. I would ignore the dates for now and just look at the bigger picture, you’ve progressed in each scan.

Has anyone had a good outcome if this has happened early on?
