Hi,

I am new here....I am 12 weeks pregnant with my 2nd child with the use of a donor egg (6 losses + breast cancer 2 years ago which sent me into an early menopause). I fell pregnant after my 1st IVF round to my amazement + excitment! We had our NIPT results back on Friday + there is a chance the baby could have Klinefelter Syndrome (which is an additional X chromosome in males). Naturally, we are devastated + very worried after everything else we have been through. I just can't believe this is happening.

We are seeing Professor Nicholaides at the FMC in Harley Street on Wed for a CVS test to give us some more insight + the wait is killing me!

Has anyone here had a NIPT that suggested a chromosomal abnormality + a CVS came back clear? I am sick with worry.

Thanks x

Sorry to hear you are having such a worrying time. No experience but I didn't want to read & run... not sure if you're aware but there's an Antenatal Tests board on here so you might find other people's previous experiences on there. All the best.

@PZ1940 there is a reddit board r/nipt that will be useful also, so many resources in there. As far as i understand the NIPT isn't very accurate for sex linked abnormalities, so could well be no issue. A lot of NIPT don't run the sex chromosome panel for this very reason. Also though I know that this can be a very mild issue if it is a true positive, so i'll keep everything crossed for you

Thanks so much @suz2285 🤗I popped a little post on there to see if anyone can help me. If I hadn't ticked the box to know the gender, I wouldn't know any of this which is crazy in itself!! x

@PZ1940 they are so helpful in there, so I'm sure they will be really useful, also there's tagged posts for various things, along the right hand side of that reddit page, so you can find a tag for XXY and see similar stories and outcomes - though i'm having a look now and can't see the tags for some reason, but try searching in the group for XXY or Klinefelter's and posts should come up
