(I gained 3 stone first preg, 4 stone last pregnancy...only one so far at 27 weeks this time)

Pannacotta · 11/03/2008 20:45

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 11/03/2008 20:45

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 11/03/2008 20:51

the boots baby book says:

If you put on 12kg (26lb) during pregnancy, it will probably be distributed like this:

3kg (7lb) extra fat, protein and nutrients
2kg (4lb) extra fluid, including blood
1kg (2lb) bigger breasts
1kg (2lb) increased uterus size
3.4kg (7.5lb) your baby
1kg (2lb) amniotic fluid
700g (1.5lb) placenta

Hope this helps xx

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 11/03/2008 21:30

There's one one Gurgle but I actually posted about it a while back in that it is completely mad and insane.

I find it very difficult to stick to healthy eating rigidly when pregnant, the little beggars always want crisps, and citric acid and stuff. Give 'em what they want, I say.

schneebly · 13/03/2008 19:57

apparently the Americans follow the 1,2,3 rule for weight gain. 1 stone gain if you are overweight, 2 stone if you are healthy weight and 3 stone if you are underweight but I think it is a little mean.

I am a big lass and for some reason unknown to man I gained no weight in either of my pregnancies and went on to have 8 pound babies. 2 weeks after each birth I was 2.5 stones lighter so that must be roughly what the weight of baby, placenta, fluids etc is. Unfortunately I gained all the weight back..and more. Need to get pg again!

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 13/03/2008 22:00

you lucky thing

i always seem to gain 3 to 3.5 stone

dont know why ?

OP posts:
bohemianbint · 14/03/2008 13:40

I put on 4 stone last time. Baby+placenta+water etc = at least a stone.

So if you only gain a stone, does that mean you've actually lost?

Celbeck01 · 14/03/2008 18:34

Try this baby weight gain estimator:

Paula I have gained 1 stone 5 so far I think
am also 23 weeks and have been wondering what others have put on

I put on 3 stone with ds

MrsTittleMouse · 14/03/2008 21:34

I was told to gain no more than 5lb in the first trimester (ideally none) and 1lb a week for the second and third. This was starting from a normal healthy weight and works out as 26lb to 31lb or about 2 stone.

As it was I gained almost nothing for the first two trimesters and then put on over a stone of pure cake ravenously hungry in the third.

berolina · 14/03/2008 21:34

I put on about 2.5 stone with ds1 and kept nearly a stone of it, then just over a stone with ds2 and lost it all almost immediately (and since then have maybe dropped another couple of lb), leaving me almost a stone above pre-pg weight (which was roughly 7 3/4 st). My theory is that I am now at my 'natural' post-pg weight.

berolina · 14/03/2008 21:40

Ooh, just done that link and what it said I shoul gain going by pre-ds1 values is exactly what I actually did gain with ds1
