Had vaginal scan at 8 weeks and doctor said looks 6 weeks..

At that stage isn't the embryo so small that they can't measure it very accurately anyway? I would not worry (easier said than done), your 12-week scan will be better.

no heartbeat, he wants me to go for a scan in a week, my cycle is 28 days.

Best of luck then, embryo is still really small so you won't know really yet, it's all still to play for if that expression fits?

6 weeks is really early to pick up a heartbeat .. hopefully he'll pick one up in a week or so

HI there, sorry to hear you're having to worry about this. In part it may depend on how sure you are of your dates and whether you could be out by a week or so? I know some people have had this and gone on to have successful pregnancies but I'm afraid I have had this twice - been told the baby was measuring two weeks smaller than my dates and on both occasions I went on to miscarry (although it was slightly different as I was 9 weeks measuring 7 weeks and there was a heartbeat seen). Anyway, dont want to be too negative but also just want to warn you as I was so sure that it must just be small/wrong dates etc that I went to the second scan expecting everything to be fine and was shattered to find out it wasnt. Hope it is different for you though and good luck.

I had this with DS - had a scan because of prolonged bleeding at what we thought was 8 weeks and it turned out it was only 6 weeks - still don't know why or how that happened - but everything went well after that and Ds is now 20 months old

It could be that you conceived 2 weeks after you would expect to - that happened with ds2. My dates were for 8 weeks, but he was actually only 6. I conceived the day before my period was due!
