Help me is this Ectopic pain or implantation pain?

Please help me, I'm not sure what to do - I have a Doctor's appt this evening as I'm 4.5 weeks preg. However, I've had cramps for a few days (which I suspect is normal judging by everyones experiences) but today they have changed and I guess its more of a pain in my lower right abdomen, fairly constant but not doubling me up in agony - when I checked internet search it indicates this could be ectopic pregnancy and when the pain comes it means your fallopian tube could burst, I absolutely hope I'm worrying unnecessarily but has anyone else ever had this type of pain in early pregnancy and been told its ok?

KLAW - So, an UTI... I am 5 weeks today and keep needing to wee (which I think is normal) but when I go in the middle of the night it feels like i have emptied my entire bladder and insides (wee only) and hurts. My sister who is 12 weeks pregnant said she gets a strange pain when she wees too, like a dragging sensation. Shall I start on Cranberry (will get some at lunchtime). What was your pain like? I've had a UTI when not pregnant and it didn't feel like this.. HELP...

I'm really sorry to be bossy boots, but if there's any way I could convince you to go to an EPU and get a trans vaginal scan, I would do it. As others on this thread have pointed out, the lack of knowledge, laziness, God knows what else to attribute it to of the medical profession re ectopics is just astounding. Having lost my tube at 6 wks, I would be safe rather than sorry. Sometimes, unbelievably, these doctors just don't get it and the sense of urgency involved with ectopics.

No I don't mind anyone being bossy boots on this at all, this is for my health after so i appreciate everyon'e advice, I am happy to get a scan if they'll let me. What's EPU and where can I go to get one ? - please advise because I will definitely check it out.
I am having a good day today though , no pain at all, just the normal crampy sensation occasionally.

Hi Bronte, lack of pain is good. EPU is an Early Pregnancy Unit that most Hopsitals have. They deal with people like us!!

i have a suspicion that if you say the pain has gone the EPU won't scan you. if you said it was present and especially if you have bleeding they would.
it could be loads of things, tbh. uti, muscles stretching, ovarian cyst, normal early pregnancy pains... who knows? i don't much like the sound of you being doubled over...
as Harriet has said if it's an ectopic then like your doc says, fiddling about with your tummy doesn't rule a thing out.

I was saved by mn when I had EP. Life def in jeopardy. I was only 4w + 6 when I had mine. Embryo lodged in narrowest part of tube and therefore it showed early. I would say if that pain persists or returns head to casualty. One ting you can never be is too safe. Re shoulder pain, this is a later symptom and indicates internal bleeding which occurs after rupture. I knew this because someone on here told me to watch out for it.

plus, the symptoms thing is bogus. the docs think you have to have everything, but in mine i didn't have pain with the first or second ep, only had bleeding once... blah blah blah. i had pain and bleeding with dd, though, to confuse matters.

I also had the same symptoms at the same time and was told it could be ectopic. I was very worried until I had a scan. It was a large cyst that faded over time.

I had scant brown blood at 5pm, mo pain. Woke ay 5am with severe rhs abdominal pain and shouler tip pain, could barely stay conscious.
was very close run thing at the time... as had ruptured.

Please get in touch with the early pregnancy unit. or if you are at all concerned go to A & E. they will check you out - measure hormone levels and / or give you a scan. DO NOT SIT AT HOME WORRYING AND IF THE PAIN DOESN'T GO AWAY GET SEEN!
don't want to scaremonger but i had an EP with 'just' a low down right side niggle pain and no bleeding.

Pinkali37, a nn pg UTI, ime, was usually a stinging upon wee-ing and needing to go very often. When you're pg this changes apparently, and I just had pain low down in my abdomen which, if I recall correctly, was coming in waves. There was no bleeding.

I was heading home for lunch on a Friday iirc, only had 30 minutes lunch break, thought this is not right, turned around and went to gp clinic. The receptionist said they were all in a staff meeting, could I come back? No way, I'm staying till I see someone!!

A kind gp came out and saw me, palpated abdomen, took details and a sample and explained that it was likely to be a mild UTI, I said how come, the symptoms are not UTI.... He said that symptoms can be very different during pg. (Incidently sample did not confirm UTI but I drunk more liquids and cranberry juice so I think I just flushed myself out).

I was very scared, and then had to explain where I'd been to work...

But as others posted, although you might just have normal pg uti, it may also be more serious so trust instincts and get checked out for peace of mind. Do not ever think that you're being a nuisance and wait it out, if you are at all worried get seen to and camp on their doorstep if you need to, they will see you.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that all of you who are worried atm are merely suffering from uti

Ah ha... I shoudl now have shares in cranberry juice as have bought the shop out. It's quite yummy when mixed with blueberry.. Mmmmm

Feel better today but had a dream last night that because i lifted my hoover I had lost my PEA... blimey don't our minds play overtime..
