Hi I'm 6 weeks 4 days and it's been pretty unremarkable so far until today I wiped and it's tinged with blood. I also have left sided groin pain and don't know whether that is significant or not as I often get left sided pain even when not pregnant (think my cervix leans that way and I had a previous LLETZ). Not sure what to do as don't know if A&E will do anything. Would I be better waiting until tomorrow and paying for a window2thewomb scan?

Hi,

I had some bleeding on Friday evening and yesterday at 7 weeks and 4 days and went to the Early pregnancy unit - all was fine. I would consider calling them Vs window to the womb, I say this because I don't know how set up window to the womb are to deal with if something wasn't right, not that I think from the markings shown on the tissue that it is of concern. But it's still fairly early for a heartbeat, some people dont see it till the 7 week mark. Mine was defo more red on wiping but not making it to the pad and I know if others who have been bleeding into the toilet, like a full on period and fine. The A+E guideline I was given was if it was heavy enough that you were filling 3 pads an hour then go to A+E or if there was extreme pain or shoulder tip pain, this is a sign of an eptopic.

I think so early no-one explains the changes that go on down there with bloodflow, even straining to go to the bathroom could result in little blood vessels popping and it coming out like blood.

I had an orgasm during my sleep (on extra meds as it's an IVF pregnancy so think they caused it) at about 6 weeks and that caused some very minor spotting.

Only you can decide what's best for you but above was my experience

Also sorry to add re the groin pain, my hips and upper thighs have been painful, this is because your body is loosening your joints up to help for giving birth, madness that it happens so early on, the GP told me when I went to an appointment that wasn't pregnancy related but said all my lower back, bum and thighs hurt

Thank you so much! Based on your description I don't think A&E is the best course but I have got a private ultrasound for later today just because my anxiety is through the roof. I think just at least knowing it's in the right location will be a big help to me mentally even if there is no heartbeat at this stage or if it's a miscarriage.

I think aslong as you are going in with the right expectations such as maybe no heartbeat because early (also sometimes it can be positioning the masks it's so early) then understandably the appointment to help with the anxiety. They will also check your ovaries and the area of the womb for bleeds so other important stuff to come from it.

Also be prepared that if it's an internal scan which is likely as it's so early you may bleed again after that.
Good luck for it, hope all is well x

Hope it all works out well for you. I had similar to this (and more) in both pregnancies up until about week 11 and it turned out fine both times.

Update - had the scan and it's in the right place thank goodness. I was so worried about an ectopic. Baby was measuring small at 1.8mm (5-6 weeks instead of the 6w4d I thought I am). However I saw a heartbeat!
