Missed Miscarriage

I found out I had a missed miscarriage on the 29th September after having a follow up scan to one I had 2 weeks prior.
I went with medical management and started heavy bleeding the following day.
I was still bleeding after 4 and a half weeks so they brought me in and done a scan where they found 2cm of ‘product’ still inside so said to wait 2 weeks and see if I passed it as I was still having erratic on and off bleeding. Just over a week ago I stopped bleeding and had a scan today where they said I still have 1cm left inside and suggested medical management again. I have taken the tablets and am just getting streaks of blood in my usual clear discharge. Just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced anything like this as I had no idea a miscarriage could go on for so long. Also wanted to know when people started trying again I’m desperate to have a baby especially since all this has happened and want to have one as soon as possible.

I am so sorry OP for your loss.

Can you ask for surgical management at this point? I'm not sure if that would move things along more quickly?

I had a missed miscarriage some time ago and found it the most devastating thing I had ever experienced. It took two months between finding out, medical management and my cycle re-establishing itself but I did conceive in my first proper cycle thereafter, and now have a gorgeous one year old.

Hoping for similar times ahead for you. Sending hugs.

I'm surprised they've suggested medical management again - when my medical management didn't get everything (I'd already bled Very heavily with clots, which had stopped before the medical manageement) they said the retained product was likely stuck quite well so surgical would be the most appropriate option. I had this under GA, it was quick and I didn't need any pain relief after the GA wore off.

I'm so sorry you're going through this.

My missed miscarriage management was similar to yours, had two rounds of pills and the bleeding carried on for about six weeks. I was very close to having surgical management but finally it all came out and a scan confirmed it. It was exhausting and upsetting, and I thought exactly the same as you, why is it taking so long? My life felt like it was on hold and I couldn't grieve properly.

This happened in March to May. We then waited a couple of months for my body and our emotions to heal. I got pregnant again in September and will be 10 weeks tomorrow. I am happy but I'm still a terrified bundle of nerves.

Please do give yourself time to heal and be kind to yourself.

thank you I hope so too. My doctor just said because it’s only a little bit left inside medical would be what he would suggest. Honestly just want it to be over, I thought it was what with stopping bleeding and having a negative pregnancy test so me and my partner had resumed trying again and now I’m worried if that could have caused anything
