Hi all, sorry this is like my 5th post today but I just wanted to know if anyone had a medical miscarriage after a MMC, how it was and their experience. I wasn’t really offered surgical and I’m not too keen on it as I’ve never been put to sleep and other people in my family have had bad reactions to anesthesia. I’ve had this over 10 years ago and remember it being like a bad period. I’m just under 6 weeks gestation when baby stopped growing

sorry for your loss

I had the tablets at 11 weeks nearly. They didn’t fully work for me and I ended up having surgical management which also didn’t work so had to have another surgical management which finally worked.

I’m really sorry about that, I’m hoping it works with medical as baby is so small, may I ask how do you know it didn’t work fully?

@elisha1375 I still had positive tests and then scans revealed that I had retained products

Hey, I had misprosotol oral tablets only one dose, I was 14 weeks but baby had died at 11, I had begun to miscarry naturally but hadn't completed the miscarriage so they used these tablets to help. It is strong cramps and you lose clots and lots of blood but it's definitely more emotionally painful than anything. If you want to keep remains for testing I'd be careful where you allow yourself to miscarry, I was in shock and naturally used the toilet, where I lost most of the remains and that scarred me the most!
Physically it only lasted a few hours and I coped well x

I had the tablets as well. They fully worked for me, it was painful but I preferred this than the surgical management because of the risks involved. It took a few days for everything to be expelled but at the scan a week later, my womb was empty.

How long did you bleed for May I ask?

@elisha1375 I bled heavily and passed most of tissue for 24 hours. Then lighter bleeding for a week

Ttcmumma · 09/11/2023 21:01

I bled heavily for a few hours, I'd say around 3-4 hours with the natural part of the miscarriage and then around 3 hours after taking the pills. After that it was a very light period/spotting for a few weeks x

TTCbaby2023 · 10/11/2023 08:24

I bled for 2 weeks overall but heavily only a few days then it was like a light period for a week and spotting for another with some medium bleed that came up before it stopped altogether. My HCG took a while to get unnoticed though but I still ovulated quite quickly after my bleed, about a week after.
