Pink discharge ? Second trimester

Does anyone have any experiences with pink discharge in the 2nd trimester? What was the outcome? I’m 15 weeks + 5 days and have been having some slight spotting and I’m really worried. I do have a cervical ectropion but I can’t think of anything I’ve done that aggravate it and cause the bleed, it’s just random.
I am going upto EPU this afternoon but they’ve said it won’t be a scan which I understand, but I also doubt they’ll check hb with me only being 15 weeks as it’s probably too early.

Hi I had this which turned into a heavy bleed at 16 weeks. Had it all checked, they cant find where its coming from. They did check the heartbeat for me multiple times so hopefully they will for you too. They wouldn't scan me either but I'm going for a private one this weekend just for peace of mind. Try not to worry especially if it's just light spotting x

@Pennyroses Thank you for your reply. How many weeks are you? They examined me and think it’s my cervical ectropion as they said my cervix was closed and the ectropion was actively bleeding. I asked for a heartbeat check and they said no as I’m too early but they will book me in for a scan instead, so I’m back up there tomorrow to see baby. Fingers crossed everything’s going to be ok for us both. Have you had any pain or cramps with your bleed? I haven’t had much but feeling quite crampy now so not sure if the exam might have caused it x

I'm 17 +1 now. They wouldn't do a scan for me but they did listen to the heartbeat. That's good it's a cervical ectroption, it's harmless to baby. They said mines definitely not that as the cervix looks fine, they think it's either a subchronic haemotoma or its coming from the placenta. That scared me to be honest! I did have cramping with the bleed, thankfully it's pretty much completely subsided now. Good luck with the scan tomorrow, I'm sure it will all be fine x

@Pennyroses Wow I’m shocked they won’t scan you then if they think it’s a haemotoma or the placenta! I’d have thought they’d have wanted to confirm.
Thank you 🫶🏼 happy to say the scan was absolutely fine and baby was doing great. They even did a flip!! Haha. So they’ve said they think it’s definitely the ectropion, such a relief x

Cervical ectropion likely. Also could be an infection irritating things such as group B strep or thrush. Could ask to do a self LVS.

Oh I'm so glad everything is fine. An ectroption is harmless so hopefully you can relax now and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy 🙂 I'm counting the days down to my private scan on Sunday! Luckily I am feeling baby moving around now so that's reassuring at least x

I have had spotting on and off from 6 weeks to now (16 weeks). Have had multiple checks and this week they have found a very small cervical polyp and confirmed this as the source. I guess it's similar to ectropion & I've been told it won't be affecting the baby but I should expect the spotting to continue in and off. I was also worried as I hadn't done anything specific to keep triggering it(I thought) but they told me even a bowel movement or a particularly busy day on my feet could cause it to bleed slightly. Having a concrete reason has really put my mind at rest but it's still hard not to worry! It helped me to think about how even the smallest nick on my gum from a toothbrush can cause a lot of red in the sink, so the actual amount of blood is quite minimal.
Glad everything was ok for you 😊

Get it checked out. I had this and was so worried as I had a history of miscarriages. But all was fine. It is very reassuring to hear those galloping heartbeats if you have been spotting.

Also had this 17 weeks pregnant went to assessment unit. Ended up having a speculum which also showed cervical ectropion. Was reassured and that was that! Definitely get it checked out though in case it’s something worrying.
