Not really just what the point of this post is!

Just found out I’m pregnant - I’m 26 and have been with my partner for 8 years (9 when baby arrives) and we have recently brought and renovated our house. Both in stable jobs and have good careers.

We are so happy but I am SO nervous at the same time. I am nervous to tell my family (even though we are all very close and I know they will be happy for us). I am also nervous to tell my manager at work. I have been in my job for 14 months and will be 2 years by the time I go on Mat leave.

Is it normal for me to feel like this? Has anyone else felt the same? I am worried about being judged for being on the younger side as well. I know I am being stupid but I feel so overwhelmed by everything at the moment!

Congratulations! It's understandable but try not to worry. You've clearly got your life together. 26 is a great age! My mum was 20 when she had me and I still love having a 'younger ' mum at 37. Mine were born when I was a month off 35 and just turned 37. For what it's worth I'd rather have had them younger, but life doesn't always work out as we plan!

Congratulations- honestly yes it was for me. I was massively stable and wanted a baby but nothing can really every prepare you. Sounds like you are in a good stable position.

Don’t feel and it question the way you feel- it’s all ok!

Hey, I am feeling exactly the same.
Me and my partner have also been together 8 years and have our own, more than big enough house and have good financial stability.
That’s so cool that you’ve renovated your house!

I am also nervous about everything - telling family even though like you, I am close with them and they will be happy.
I have only been in my current job for 3 months so I am VERY nervous about how that will go down.
I’m also nervous about the life change and that I’ll be on my own even though I have lots of support around me.
I think, especially if you are like me and over think literally everything, it’s very normal to feel all sorts. It’s huge news to take in but for ages nothing actually changes so it feels very strange and it’s all so new.
I think 26 is a great age to have a baby! I am 30 so sometimes feel like I have left it too late and would have preferred to do it earlier but I haven’t been anywhere near ready before now so age really doesn’t matter it’s all about how you feel as to when the time is right 😊
Best of luck with everything and always here if you want to chat!

I am sure your employer will be fine. I had only been at my current employer 9 months when I said I was pregnant and will be 16 months into my employment when I finish there this week for mat leave. I wouldn't worry about that x
