Vbac 2 stories ? Tips for positioning

Hi my second pregnancy was a vbac attempt was right occuput transverse and I had very painful contractions every 2 min lasting 40 sec but after 36 hours was only 3cm dilated not sure why

This time I am 30
weeks
i have been trying to get on all 4s to see if that encourages head down position LOA
and have been kneeling on sofa and putting my elbows on floor

i have piles/hemaroids and am frightened of labour id ideally like an epidural when I’m 7-8 dilated but I won’t know when that is .

if anyone has any tips pls let me know not sure to get a private midwife as they encouraged a hospital birth but in the past I’ve gone to hospital too early which led to the cascade of interference

If you know you want an epidural it may be best not to wait until 7-8cm if you’ve laboured before - might not be time to get it in and working if you wait that long (multips can crack on pretty quickly and there’s something about the position we so get you in for an epidural that sometimes speeds things up). Probably best to see how things progress early on/see what position the baby’s in on the day/discuss whether anything might make an epidural more challenging in you (another argument for doing it earlier sometimes). HTH.

How would I know when to ask for epidural

Ask for it when you’re in established labour and feel like you need/want it. Your MW/obstetrician will be able to advise to some extent based on how things are going with labour and there’s always an anaesthetist you can talk to to get their advice too.

I find the internal examinations too painful without an epidural so how will they know how dilated I am
