What’s helped your mental health during pregnancy?

Hi all,

I’m currently 25 weeks pregnant and struggling with my mental health. I’ve suffered with PGP from the beginning of the second trimester and as a result I now WFH full-time. I try to get out and do what I can around the home to keep busy but I’m obviously limited by the pain! I go to Aquanatal classes and yoga, but on the days I don’t leave the house I can go the entire day without speaking to anyone. Watching TV gets boring, so some days I just find myself scrolling through my phone. When my partner has his own plans in the evening I really struggle, because I do just get so lonely. I don’t have any friends or family locally, they’re all around an hours’ drive away which is a struggle too right now. I’ve tried to make friends locally, but I find 90% of people stop replying.

Any tips on what people found useful during pregnancy (or even after!) to improve their mental health? Tips for managing PGP also welcome!

Do you listen to any podcasts? I listen to them on youtube and they keep my mind busy but I agree with you, it does get lonely. I am on maternity leave and get so bored at times.

Maybe have a look for a documentary on iplayer/youtube/netflix?

Do you read books?

I haven’t really listened to podcasts so I’ll give them a go, thank you! I do read, need to get started on a new book though. Thank you! ☺️
