Has anyone received side effects from this? I had a small amount of brown discharge and am cramping lots. Trying to work out if this is because of the progesterone…

Hi,

I had this for the last week. The pessaries can cause irritation and there is more bloodflow in that area.

I use applicators with my pessaries and think I put it up so far and actually got some red spots on it too, nurse said the plastic can sometimes scratch so now just put them lower.

If it's just browny it's fine but can call clinic for reassurance.

Can use rectally if preferred.

I experienced the same at around 11 weeks, turns out it was a fibroid but baby was fine!

contact your local Epu to try and get some reassurance x

Sorry just to add, the cramping can also cause little ruptures but because they are so small by the time they come out the blood is brown.

I found this out after having an orgasm in my sleep 😅

I'm 6 weeks and 5 days and had cramping most days

I got quite bad cramps about 20 mins after inserting each pessary. I found rectal use to be a lot better overall.

Thanks everyone! My cramps are on and off which I’ve read can be growing pains??? I’ve not had any more of the brown discharge today so that’s a positive

The cramping can indeed be "growing pains" and can also be part of pregnancy or progesterone! Worth checking whether yours can go rectally as some can't. The lutigest I used in my first and second round can't, but the cylogest I've been prescribed for my third round can.
