Has anyone else really struggled at work in the first trimester? I have needed to drop some of my existing medication due to now being pregnant, the pregnancy is high risk so I’m being given a lot of medication and I’m still waiting for a scan to show viability. I’m an emotional, tired and ill mess most days and am really struggling. How do you cope with normal life when everything pregnancy related is up in the air?

I'm really sorry you're feeling like this. But to assure you, you're not the only one feeling like this. Misery loves company.

I've had about three or four days off in the last 6 weeks because I've been feeling so rubbish, physically and emotionally (I had a horrible, drawn out miscarriage earlier this year). I've been nauseated, but never sick, and so so tired that emptying a pouch of food for the cats three times a day was the most I could do without bursting into tears because I was so tired. I hate being like this.

I'm very lucky I have a good team and line manager. I've told them what's going on, mostly just in case this pregnancy doesn't work out. But I do worry there's only so much goodwill. I've tried to compensate for this on the days where I do feel, working a bit longer and trying to stay on top of things.

I'm 9 weeks now, so I'm hoping for a return to normalish in a couple of weeks time.
