Measuring small 7 week scan

mumbrain247 · 06/11/2023 12:23

I've just had a scan at 7w1d - I know to the hour when I ovulated as I have very painful ovulation, so know dates are exact.

The gestational sac measures 7w1d, the yolk sac is 4mm, so the right size and heart rate was 110bpm so on track. BUT, the CRL was only measuring 5w6d. I had a scan a week ago and the fetal pole was only 2mm, so there has been growth, but not enough.

I don't know whether to take comfort in everything else measuring on track, or is the fact that baby is so behind a bad sign?

Has anyone experienced similar?

(Multiple early scans because of previous issues)

Just realised the heart rate should be over 125 at this point so I guess that combined with the small CRL is probably a bad sign.

When it's so early, it's very hard to get an accurate measurement xx have they booked you back in?

mumbrain247 · 06/11/2023 13:22

Booked back in next week. I'm preparing myself for bad news.

Hi OP, I have joined MN again just because I wanted to say the exact same thing happened to me. I was told 5w6d which I knew could not be correct as we only had sex once that month and that would have meant the sperm was hanging around for over 2 weeks! Long story short after many tears and an anxious wait, at the 12 week scan I was measuring exactly per my dates, and DC is now a happy healthy 3 yr old. I can only wish the same for you Flowers

Apparently a matter of mm makes all the difference so early on.

Oh wow, thank you so much for going to the effort of replying and I'm so glad things turned out well for you. I won't give up hope just yet!

I really hope it works out for you OP, I appreciate why you had an early scan given your history but it really put me off having one again (unless suspected ectopic etc obviously). I just found it caused unnecessary anxiety. I do really hope it works out for you, fingers crossed!

I’ve been told the same, although I’m dating 2 weeks behind. I’ve been told not to worry as this is completely normal (I am obviously worrying) and they haven’t even booked me in for another scan as they aren’t worried!!! Good luck to you, when is your next scan?

Sorry you're going through the same worry. How many weeks do you think you should be? Have you just got to wait for the 12 week scan now?

I've got a scan again next Monday when I should be 8w1d. Hopefully I can finally get an a clear answer then. Feels like I'm living in limbo!

I should have been 8 weeks on the dot but measured 6 on the dot. Yes just a waiting game but that’s how I’m describing how I’m feeling to those who know, completely in limbo! I think I’ve read every post of every forum and it’s seeming to be pretty much 50/50

Skatrina33 · 12/01/2024 17:57

How was the outcome ? I’m exactly in this boat

ThelastRolo20 · 13/01/2024 07:21

@Skatrina33 I'm also in the same boat! Went for an early scan at 7+1 (LMP) but around 6+5 based on ovulation and measured 5+2 with no HB. Figured that was that but had a scan at 8w (LMP) which was around 7+4 based on ovulation and measured around 6 weeks with a HB! Having another scan on 22 Jan and I keep swapping between being hopeful and feeling utterly deflated.

What's your situation? Any other stories very welcome!

Ifyourfondofsanddunes · 13/01/2024 07:23

Hope you're ok OP

Skatrina33 · 13/01/2024 11:58

This is literally my situation- I’m measuring a week and 3 days behind and the doctor honestly was not hopeful at all another scan I’m two weeks will be the deciding factor I guess 😫

Bobthethird · 13/01/2024 12:01

op you know when you OVULATED. you don't know when you concieved. even if you had sex immediately after you had the pain, you can't know how long it took for one of the sperm to get there and get inside. And at this age, a day or two makes a huge dfference

Skatrina33 · 13/01/2024 12:06

In all seriousness let me know how u make out my scan is the 25 ❤️

Skatrina33 · 13/01/2024 12:09

How did it work out

Georgia324 · 01/02/2025 23:00
