Have I put enough weight on?!

Coming up 35 weeks and have put on a stone and a half. Was 5ft 8in and 9st 6lbs to start with and have been eating a really good, really healthy diet.
Just worried as all the girls in my antenatal class and other pregnant women I know have put on more by this stage.
Anyone else the same?

Lucky old you!
I didn't get very big with my pg until the last few weeks, so look out! So long as your baby feels decent sized enough through your bump when the mw examines you, nothing to worry about.

Thanks Nicky. Midwife says measurements are fine so I'll stop being silly and worrying.
Never thought I'd find myself worrying about not being heavy enough!
Off for a couple of biscuits now so hopefully that will help!

Sounds perfect. The rest of your group will be jealous of you when you're down to pre-pregnancy weight well before they are!

Theoretically you are supposed to put on about 20lbs by the end of the second trimester, and then a pound a week after that, so you are not very much short of that.

I weighed myself at my last midwife appointment at 35 weeks (first time I had weighed myself since becoming pregnant!) and had also put on just a stone and a half. The midwife assured me this was fine and normal and baby is measuring normal which is the main thing. I take it as meaning I can let myself have a few more crisps/biscuits each day!!

I am in the same boat - have just weighed myself recently and found i have not actually put on that much weight (32 weeks and put on a stone and a quarter). I have been eating normally - healthy stuff and biscuits - so not too worried.

I figure there is still time for it ot pile on!

i put on 4kg with dd1

Anna8888 · 11/03/2008 14:03

A stone and a half (about 10kgs) is plenty. I am just over 5ft 8in and was 9 stone to begin with and just under 12 stone at the end and quite honestly that was a bit much.

hi, I was over weight to begin with but... I have put on 1stone 3 pounds and I am 37 weeks and baby bump measures at top of the chart so not worried. just sounds like you have put just the baby on...

great.

My mum always recants how she only put on a stone and a half for each pregnancy (pre-pg weight about 8 and half stone) and had my sis and me 9lbs3oz and 8lbs6oz respectively.

I was similar in my first pregnancy (though ds1 was 6lb9oz) and lost all the weight within a couple of mths (and then some!)

With ds2 I thought "great, I can eat and eat and eat" - put on 3 stone. Yes you guessed it, I never lost it all and am now 33 weeks with no.3 so will have to bootcamp myself after this one!

micegg · 11/03/2008 14:27

I was slightly over my BMI ideal weight to start and have so far put on 1st 4 lbs. I will be 37 weeks on friday. Baby is fine.

Hersetta · 11/03/2008 14:37

I only put on 11lbs with my DD - then lost 39 lbs in the two weeks following her birth as I was so ill. great diet method though!

frasersmummy · 11/03/2008 16:00

I was sick all the way through my pregnancy so I actually lost a few lbs over the course of my pregnancy

DS was perfectly healthy .. I hope this brings you some calm

Thanks ladies. You have reassured me. And I do have a massive bump believe me - every time I look in the mirror I get a fright!
Midwife says it's just my body and that I shouldn't be complaining.
Anyway, I'm sure I'll pile on the pounds in these last weeks!
