Early scan measuring behind

Hello, has anyone got any stories of where they’ve been for an early scan and baby is measuring behind? I went for a scan at 8 weeks to be told I was only 6 but I am certain of my dates. Looking for any stories of anyone in the same situation as the sonographers weren’t concerned in the slightest but I feel in limbo!

Hi
yes I had exactly the same thing. I know the exact date I conceived and put myself a week and a bit ahead. I had to go back for my 12 week scan as they said the baby was only 10-10.5 and they couldn’t do the relevant checks . Everything was fine it’s more of an art than a science same with due dates! I’m now 30 weeks x

Did they see a heartbeat? You could have possibly ovulated later than you thought which would throw the dates off but also baby is so so small at this stage it’s really hard to get an accurate measurement and if they’re curled up it makes it even harder. The measurements are literally in mm and measuring 1mm out can throw dates off by days. I had several scans before 12 weeks due to bleeding and the measurements were all different!! For example the first scan I measured 6+6 (which was actually a couple days ahead of my dates) then a full week later I was only measuring 7+1 which was super scary and I thought the worst. But by my 12 week scan baby had caught up to the exact date I thought I ovulated so was probably over measured in the first scan and under measured in the second for whatever reason. Sending hugs, it’s a worrying time but the odds are in your favour x

Yes they saw a heartbeat which was reassuring but I know you’re still not out of the woods although a heartbeat has been seen! So pleased your baby caught up what a relief for you x

Yes definitely not out of the woods but really reassuring that they’ve seen a heartbeat especially at 6 weeks as that’s still really early! Obviously only time will tell which is the worst thing ever but this sounds positive to me I think possibly either your dates are slightly out or they’ve under measured for whatever reason, maybe a bit of both. Sending you lots of luck x
