Hi there
At the grand old age of 39 I am now just over 10 wks pg with my first following two previous miscarriages over the last 3 years. Just wondering if there are any other similar mums to be out there looking to share the journey and feelings/experiences?
Look forward to hearing from you xx

Hi every1, congrats and good luck with the scans! I'm 37 and 22wks with my 1st. I moved to France in Sept so being looked after here. I thought it a bit much at 1st but do feel cared for as I have monthly midwife check-ups, bp, urine, weight and blood tests. I have my 20wk scan on Thurs as their dates are 2wks behind private scan I had at xmas in England. Language barrier a bit of a nightmare but getting lessons, could kick myself for my "I'll never go to France when I'm older" attitude at school lol!

Good luck everyone, I really hope all of your pregnancies turn out well.

I had my first baby at 37 in early May (birthday at end of June) and I'd like if I can to have another one. dp will be 45 next month and I turn 40 next year. One of the best pieces of news I've heard recently is of a postnatal group friend - 1st dc at 37, 2nd at 41 last January, now expecting 3rd in June. If she can do it I'm hoping I can.

As for weight, I gained 4lb between 12 and 40 weeks and hadn't put on weight in those first weeks, I'm fairly sure. I just couldn't really eat - I felt sick and had heartburn right up to the end. Sadly though I was a stone lighter at the end of the pregnancy I've put most of it back on.

soph28 split with Olga's Dad cos he could not cope did not start trying again really until I was in my late 20's and he was not interested in finding out why so tests were a little one sided and that is ovulating, tubes, no odd PH in vagina (god that all seems a long time ago) ok. But that is why we split I got fed up with waiting and felt I needed to move on. Never used contraception with this ones Dad but it was never really serious (we both sort of fancied a baby but it did not happen while we were together) His contract moved home to other places in the UK after a few years my job was here and I was happy and did not want to move and we only saw each other on and off.

I hit 40 gave up on ever having kids started a career change. He came back in Oct to say goodbye as had a contract in Saudi (he did ask me but no way did I want to live there for 3 years) then was going back to US. Took me till December to realise I was actually pregnant I was convinced it was the menopauses.

Trespass, dc = darling children, dp = darling partner

dd- daughter, ds- son etc.

Kaz- thanks for replying, that's an incredible journey you've had. How does your exP feel about the baby? Or are you together now?

I just wanted some hope for my friend- she has basically tried every month for about 8yrs with no success. She has been told that despite endometriosis and hypeothyroidism she should still be able to conceive but she hasn't. Has anyone else been in a situation like this?

BTW Congratulations to you all

Kaz1967 · 11/03/2008 17:49

Scan went fine Bump I always breath a sigh or relieve when I see them and the heart beat.

Rock (as his her surrogate aunt calls them) has decided to remain a mystery I think they got stage fright they gave us a wave and then hid with their face in a fibroid and legs crossed Oh well surprises are nice They appear to have all bits in the right place think I surprised both girls that scanned me (we had to go for a walk and try and shift the horror but it did not work) So think I have a bruised hip bone where she had to dig the probe in to try and see their face (camera shy like me )

Soph we are not together we had decided in Oct to make a clean break as he was heading back to the US and I had no wish to he has my contact details but I had his work numbers, email and home number and he is no longer there.

Flibbertyjibbet I said a similar thing to Mum about grandchildren and bus's my Brov and SiL (both 38) had one in Oct an I am pregnant now LOL

babycakes26 · 11/03/2008 18:48

Oh great Kaz so pleased for you - no working myself into a frenzy about my scan tomorrow - I have had bad experiences in the past at this stage with the mcs...

bc will be thinking of you and hoping it all goes well tomorrow

Merryoncemore · 11/03/2008 19:56

Hi all,

Had a very busy day and just about to leave the office but wanted to pop in to say congratulations to those that had good scans today and good luck to those that have them in the coming few days.

Lou, I'm keeping you to those weight updates, I feel as though I'm slowly morphing into a small house. Going to Gambia on Friday for a week and telling myself that whilst I'm there I'll swim every day and improve my general well being. Know what you mean about the chocolate, I got so much stuff at Christmas that my DP had to eat on his own because the very thought made me slightly queasy, unfortunatly I've since discovered that cream teas are the ideal replacement

Trespass · 12/03/2008 13:07

Thanks Soph28! Don't feel so out of it now xx

babycakes26 · 12/03/2008 19:43

EEC · 13/03/2008 15:34

Hello there all you lovely older mums!

23 weeks with my third at age 39, but the other two are 10 and 11 now, so feels like my first in some ways. A few raised eyebrows at our news (MIL especially), but we're pleased so that's what matters. Although also very aprehensive about the huge effect on us and the DCs, and occasionally think I must be mad.

Kaz1967 · 13/03/2008 16:23

Trespass low lying placenta is called Placenta Previa sometimes it will move upwards it does depend on how low it is. It may mean you need a C section becuse it is blocking the babies way out and contractions would lead to a bleed this however means you will know exactly when they are to be born so can really plan things

potxola · 13/03/2008 16:45

Hi,
I am 40, 14 weeks pregnant. I already have a 3 yr old ds.
I've had the NT and I am high risk. I have 1 in 52 chances of having a Down Syndrom baby. The amnio is in less than 2 weeks and I find the waiting period awful. I had an amnio with my first son, but I did not have the NT then. We have already decided to terminate if it comes back positive.

What I find it difficult is doing the day to day things with my son, my mind and energy are somewhere else. Today I went out for the first time in a week. My dh is very supportive but I just want to have the amnio now and get on with it.

Have you been in this situation?

Thanks

EEC · 13/03/2008 17:12

potxola - I had the oscar test and luckily risk came back low so decided not to have CVS or amnio, but even waiting to have that was all consuming - couldn't think about anything else - so I know what you mean. Good luck. At least you will know one way or the other. I sometimes worry still that I should have had the CVS.

potxola · 13/03/2008 20:21

Hi EEC, I have seen you are due in July. Not long to go now.
I am sure you baby is perfect and is very lucky to have a big brother and sister.

If the risk was low, you have done the right thing.
Enjoy motherhood again, I am sure you are an expert. Istill have not managed to potty trained my 3 yr old son.....!!!!

Kaz1967 · 14/03/2008 04:22

Just put Bumps latest pic on my profile. Not that pretty because they were being a real pain

splodgesmum · 14/03/2008 04:50

Kaz, good to hear all is going well with pg. Are you a fellow insomniac (hence time of the post!) or a shift worker!

I'm 35 and now 26 weeks pg. Lost 2 in 2006.

Each week that goes by become more hopeful it will all happen this time.

potxola · 14/03/2008 09:08

Hi splodgesmum. I had 2 misc bebore I felt pregnant with my son. I was 36 and Everybody though it wouln't happen. My son was born by emergency C section because he was huge, 10lb. He is very bright, tall, bigual and I am so glad I did not give up hope. Now I am almost 41 and despite the amnio in 2 weeks I still have hope. You will be fine.
