Has anyone found out they were pregnant using an ovulation test?! Interested in hearing your experiences!

first test was done yesterday and the bottom was done a moment ago. I think the lines a little darker! (Not due untill tomorrow or Sunday)

Don't they measure different hormones? Are you sure you've already ovulated this month?

Mamato29192 · 03/11/2023 10:26

When ever I've used ovulation tests when pregnant the lines always been crazy dark

SquashPenguin · 03/11/2023 10:27

Ovulation tests will more often than not show a faint line whenever you take them, so they aren’t reliable for pregnancy at all.

Bells3032 · 03/11/2023 10:28

An ovulation test will always have a line. When I was pregnant it was blazing positive. And even when ovulating I had never had a full positive as my lh levels were low. It was the darkest test I've ever had.

I ovulated over a week ago and got a super dark line, I’ve been doing them every day since to just check. And they’re getting darker again but I’m due on so was abit confused! I live in the middle of no we’re so I’m waiting for Amazon to deliver my FRER! Prob just posative thinking woth the ovulation test

@Louiselouxo it’s common for an ovulation test to look a little bit darker right before you’re period. It’s measuring LH, not HCG, and we always have LH in our system. Urine concentration can affect the line colour too.

Bells3032 · 03/11/2023 10:44

Lh does tend to increase a bit just before your period. So it doesn't mean anything yet. Doesn't mean you're out either. Go get a pregnancy test

This is how I found out I was pregnant the second time. I knew I had ovulated shortly after my period ended and got another peak fertility one week before my next period was due. Took a pregnancy test straight away and it was positive. Like others have said, sometimes the hormone spikes again anyway before your period. You’ve won’t know without taking a PG test.

Louiselouxo · 03/11/2023 22:52

Oh wow that’s amazing! Was your lime darker than mine? I ovulated over a week ago as I was taking opks. I don’t live near a shop so I have ordered a test of Amazon but the not knowing is killing me!

You have a second lh surge just before your period op, it's just smaller than the one at ovulation

Louiselouxo · 05/11/2023 11:23

Sorry guys, me again! I still haven’t got any preg tests they should be here today! My flo app keeps saying period may start today.

done another opk and I think it’s darker?

For an OPK to function as a pregnancy test it needs to be positive for that type of test i.e. the test line as dark or darker than the control line. It's not the same as a pregnancy test where even a very faint line is a positive. As others have said, there's pretty much always a faint line on an opk so it's not really something you can interpret as meaningful at that point.

From having experimented with this in the past, I didn't get positive readings on an opk-as-a-pregnancy-test until a few days after my period was late - they didn't really work as an early test. Fingers crossed for the actual pregnancy tests!

Update please @Louiselouxo I'm in the same boat

Harveybelle · 12/05/2024 19:00

So I accidentally took an OPK when I was testing for my BFP last month. The preg test was a faint positive (I am pregnant) but the accidental OPK was darker and picked up as a positive...

bloodyBorat · 12/05/2024 19:49

I accidentally used an ovulation test instead of a pregnancy test (internet cheapies so look similar) when I got pregnant with my DS- the test line was MUCH darker than the control line, way darker than you'd get testing for your peak during ovulation.
