Prescribed ibuprofen gel whilst pregnant

Hello, I just went to the gp with severe back pain and was prescribed a 10% ibuprofen gel. I asked if that would be safe whilst pregnant and he said yes. However the packaging literally says not to take if pregnant.
I checked with the pharmacist and they said if the doctor said it's fine then it is... but no mention of the risks to my baby!

Would you use the gel?

Ibuprofen is not recommended for use after week 20 of the pregnancy. There have been some reports that NSAID use in the 2nd half of pregnancy might affect the kidney of the developing baby. The baby's kidney starts to make amniotic fluid (the fluid that surrounds the baby) around week 20 of pregnancy.

Usage guidance has recently changed, however any use of ibuprofen discussed in nice guidelines or otherwise is referring to prolonged use, not acute use.
