Can you go on a long-haul tropical holiday in second trimester?

This is theoretical - but just want to gather opinions / see if anyone has personal experience?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Is it somewhere you would be prepared to give birth?

Straightforward pregnancy so far?

I went to Lanzarote in 2nd trimester and it was fine. Wouldn't personally do long haul.

You need to check for Zika virus risk if going somewhere tropical but in terms of flight length it should be fine as long as your midwife says so

I went to Thailand for 3 weeks at 24 weeks pregnant, was absolutely fine

Yes, assuming all OK so far and check Zika as PP says. I wish I'd done an adventure trip in 2nd tri as probably last opportunity! I asked my Obstetrician as Australia/Nz was a possibility and she said fine, easier than with a crawling baby (with the caveat that no risk factors emerged between now and then).

You do need to check your travel insurance and be extra aware of DVT.

I think also makes a difference if you are in a big modern city with modern health are versus middle of nowhere
