hi- sorry for TMI but I am really panicked and can't get hold of my midwife!

I had just been to the toilet, wiped (after poo-sorry sorry sorry!!) and there was a fair bit amount of blood on the loo roll. I'm not in pain while pooping or anything, so I don't think its hemorrhoids or anything like that!

Has anyone experienced this? I'm 33 weeks pregnant

Get medical advice straightaway. Of you can't get hold of midwife/GP phone 111.

TeaKitten · 01/11/2023 15:32

Phone the maternity ward at hospital, failing that 111 for advice as it may not be pregnancy related.

TTCbaby2023 · 01/11/2023 15:36

Even if there is no pain, it could be haemorrhoids but to be on the safe side, get it checked immediately. Better safe than sorry. Was there any blood in the poop? Was the blood bright red and fresh? Do you struggle to pass poop?

The same happened to me and it was indeed haemorrhoids.

Mummymummy89 · 01/11/2023 15:39

It sounds like haemorrhoids to me too. The blood is copious and bright red. It's often painless.

I get this during my pregnancies too and I had it postpartum on and off for months - kept thinking it might be my period resuming but no.

You should probably call the maternal assessment line and they'll probably get you to go in and be checked but it does sound just like haemorrhoids imo.

@TTCbaby2023 it was only in my bottom. I don't have any issues with pooping, and it was pink/red

@Mummymummy89 I've read that hemorrhoids are painful, but if you all say it can be painless I'm a little bit calmer...

Most likely piles. Very common in pregnancy and they don’t have to be painful.

They can be painful, they can be itchy, and they can be neither! Mine are never painful, usually just no sensation but sometimes itchy at night, so you could look out for that. Itchy right in the opening (sorry tmi).

As all the pp have said, you might as well get it checked out but my bet would be it's haemorrhoids

GeorgeTheFirst · 01/11/2023 16:09

It's a pile, they can be completely painless. Have a look with a mirror?

LisaSs · 01/11/2023 16:18

@GeorgeTheFirst nothing there!

I'd bet hemmoroids - I had them once (not in this pregnancy) and it was quite a lot of red blood but no pain or anything. Honestly I freaked out and thought all kinds of crazy things could be happening to me - I'd never even heard of piles 🤣 but GP sorted me out with some meds and it never happened again.

cocksstrideintheevening · 01/11/2023 20:31

The joy of pregnancy - piles.

EasternBee · 02/11/2023 20:56

Definitely haemorrhoids - one of many pregnancy joys - I doubt your midwife will say anything else as HRs are incredibly common
