What do you think about telling people at 10 and a half weeks?

I had a scan today and all was well with heartbeat etc. I'm longing to tell my friends, but I don't want to jinx things. I'm having another scan at 13 weeks and I suppose I should wait until then to tell people...does anyone know how high the risk of miscarriage is if you see a heartbeat at 10 weeks? i suppose i'm not out of the woods yet.

Hi, according to the pregnancy book - Your Pregancy Week by Week by Lesley Regan the chances of miscarriage reduce to 15% after 6 weeks and then fall again to 3% after 8 weeks. Obviously nothing is certain but I think you should tell people when you feel comfortable.

My SIL told family and friends after a scan at 10 weeks, I think the chance of a healthy preg at 10 weeks with hb is about 98%. I told people at about 11 weeks after my scan.

I've always told people i'm close to straight away as I figured I would tell them about a mc anyway iyswim.

I tell everyone as soon as i find out, i cannot keep secrets and would rather people knew if i went on to miscarry.

we told people at 10 weeks before we'd had a scan because by that point we'd nearly slipped up and accidentaly let on several times and the strain of keeping it secret was getting too much for us. We would have told people if I'd miscarried at that point anyway.

It really is a very personal decision but there is nothing wrong with telling people now. Your baby's health is not dependent on you keeping his or her existence a secret . Also no reason why you can't keep it a secret until you are obviously showing.

I told people before that - close friends and family. I'd had a mc previously and felt I needed the support if anything went wrong the second time round. Fortunately it didn't.

I told work at 10 weeks - it was a brand new job and I told them the week I started (after the school holidays; I wasn't pregnant at the interview/application stage). Had to tell work as was so sick - annd needed to sort out the sitation if I needed to leave my classroom in a hurry.

TBH I was so sick it was impossible to find from about 4-5 weeks anyway. Even when we did tell friends and family they'd all already guessed!

I had a scan at 10 weeks this time and started telling people then. Had to though as it was v obvious and I was feeling awful - was hard to hide when seeing family over the xmas period. If i'd not gained weight I may have held out longer, but after my scan felt more comfortable about telling people.

I had to tell my immediate family at about 8 wks because I was so ill and they were beginning to imagine all sorts of things! I didn't tell others until I was 12 weeks and had the official scan - i'm not superstitious, but just felt most comfortable with this.

I'm ten weeks and just beginning to tell people (actually, they are beginning to notice as I'm already in maternity clothes!)
