Hi everyone, 1st time pregnant here - what do braxton hicks feel like?? I’m getting severe cramps on and off but it’s mainly vaginal rather than my stomach area??

MrsW9 · 07/12/2023 14:05

@CheeseAndCrackersx , thanks so much. The honey and lemon is very helpful. Will try to get some of the other things.

DmcinT · 07/12/2023 14:41

@CheeseAndCrackersx @MrsW9 just to say and I’m sure it’s prob him being over cautious but my pharmacist advised not to take honey and lemon when I’d a sore throat a few weeks ago. I think it’s the honey that’s not advised during pregnancy. Then obviously nothing with a decongestant in it. ❤️

CheeseAndCrackersx · 07/12/2023 14:52

@DmcinT I'm buggered then, I've had it loads 🤣

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 07/12/2023 14:54

@CheeseAndCrackersx no you're totally fine, NHS says it's fine to eat honey! I've had loads too

DmcinT · 07/12/2023 15:01

@CheeseAndCrackersx yeah I’d say it’s that pharmacist is being over cautious tbh

Cheetocat · 07/12/2023 16:30

They were probably getting mixed up with the fact that babies under one can get ill from honey.

CheeseAndCrackersx · 07/12/2023 16:50

This place is defo more helpful than google...
In relations to feeding.
Cos I want to express and formula feed, can you put them in the same bottle? And will he be ok with a mix of both? I don't want to cause him a bad belly or anything.

You can mix them but make sure the formula is properly mixed up with the right level of water and scoops, then you can add the breast milk afterwards. It doesn't matter if the formula is hot and the breast milk is cool if you're using it straight away.

CheeseAndCrackersx · 07/12/2023 17:12

Ah thank you @Cheetocat 😀

Sunshineclouds11 · 07/12/2023 19:11

Anyone got a list for hospital bags for us and baby?
Ive made a start but it's been over 4 year so want to make sure there's nothing I'm missing.

LavenderSweetPea · 07/12/2023 19:21

Adding to @Sunshineclouds11 question about what to pack, what do you wear for the actual birth (assuming VB not Csec)? Do you get a hospital gown? Not sure what I should be taking with me for this part

CheeseAndCrackersx · 07/12/2023 19:29

@LavenderSweetPea I'm packing nighties for labour. Or a long tshirt if you have those.
I'm taking nighties from home too, not buying anything for myself new really for the hospital cos I don't see the point in the added expense

Sunshineclouds11 · 07/12/2023 19:40

@LavenderSweetPea I laboured in bra and jama bottoms and gave birth naked with a sheet over me. It was sooo hot!

Whatever you comfy in, friends have gave birth in t shirts, vest tops, nighties

LavenderSweetPea · 07/12/2023 20:08

Hmmm maybe just big T-shirt is the way to go. I don't actually own any nighties

Mummapenguin20 · 07/12/2023 20:30

I’ve always laboured in what ever I’ve gone into labour in 🙈1 was trackies top trackies thrown off when needed. 2 nightie 3 vest top n leggings x

Ebonythoughts · 07/12/2023 20:57

I’ve packed a couple of button nighties to make it easier to breastfeed after birth hopefully. Just packed a maternity dress for leaving the hospital because I’m pretty sure I’ll still be wearing maternity wear lol.

Still need to buy some slippers and socks (my feet get really cold) and then I think my hospital bag is all set x

Ebonythoughts · 07/12/2023 21:01

Is anyone else having their birth in a different hospital to where they’ve been having their antenatal appointments? I’ve been having mine in Birmingham but going to be giving birth in Sheffield as culturally we have 30/40 days of rest post birth where family pretty much pamper you do we want to be near family for that.

I have my 31 week appointment tomorrow and I think subsequent ones we will be in Sheffield but I’m not sure what information I need to take apart from my hospital book as I know different hospitals have different systems. Anyone have any experience of transferring between hospitals?

Callmemummynotmaaa · 07/12/2023 21:07

@Ebonythoughts I kind of do in that in Covid, I transferred my care to a hospital close to my families home, when we learnt my wee man was likely to need NICU (my family couldn’t have traveled to us if we needed them). It was the right call for us, but, I didn’t expect the hospital to want to “start again”. So I had a full new set of blood work, scans, met with a new consultant who had their own ideas about my care (slightly different from my previous). New anesthetic team (I’m complicated). C section dates changed. I felt very well cared for but I was a busy/intense few days, and I was very glad I wasn’t “wedded” to my previous plan.

Callmemummynotmaaa · 07/12/2023 21:08

I swapped at 37 weeks.

Ebonythoughts · 07/12/2023 21:13

Thank you. I think that’s why I want to go a little earlier at 35/36 weeks so that if lots of things are needed I’m not rushing around.

Mummapenguin20 · 07/12/2023 21:28

Is anyone else’s kicks really strong I’ve actually managed to video mine tonight x

CheeseAndCrackersx · 07/12/2023 21:38

@Mummapenguin20 so strong now 😊
I rested my phone on my belly earlier and he was kicking it off x

Mummapenguin20 · 07/12/2023 22:13

novamama · 08/12/2023 04:02
