Sugar panic

I was fairly healthy in my first trimester but the second…I’ve been having pudding after dinner every night and eating cake and chocolate at other times of the day. My weight gain has tracked normally but I’m worried about damage I might have done, if I go back to healthy eating now, should it balance out? It can’t hurt, but I’m wondering if the sugar peaks would have set the pace for the babies development.

It’s fine, your body tells you what it needs. You just need to make better choices when your body wants sugar.

If you don't have gestational diabetes, you're very unlikely to have done any damage growth wise so don't panic. Just make better choices now and all will be fine.

Damage? There will be no damage.

I remember being ravenously hungry when pregnant. And yes, I gained weight. But then I lost it again.

If you can’t enjoy a bit of cake and chocolate when pregnant, when can you?

Thank you. I’m definitely over worrying. Have a few extra scans and checks this week so maybe that’s contributing to control freak tendencies. Will cook a lovely healthy dinner tonight, and had a healthy breakfast to start the day. Plus a hot cross bun mid morning snack…because I think it’s all about balance?
