Yes, had a miscarriage at nearly 8 weeks and then got pregnant after 2 or maybe 3 months with our DS. Be easy on yourself and take it nice and slowly everything will be just fine. Congratulations.

I'm 20 weeks pregnant - miscarried about four weeks before conceiving this baby. Early on I had bleeding and lots of pains but all was well.

Sometimes the implantation is 'messy' in that it takes a week or so for the embryo to embed deeply, that can cause cramping and in some cases bleeding. But it's not necessarily an issue.

It is better if you can wait till seven weeks for a dating scan so they have a better chance of seeing a heartbeat - it usually kicks in about six and a half weeks and if a heartbeat has been seen the risk of miscarriage is much lower.

At which point did you miscarry last time?

CONGRATULATIONS

Also contact the epau who will provide additional support and scans !

Smurfs · 09/03/2008 22:15

I had a scan at about 7 weeks if i recall correctly. I was soooo nervous, they seemed to be taking forever which I took to be a bad sign and then the woman doing it turned the screen around to us and there was a tiny flicker on the screen....a little heart, cue lots of tears from us and a very well looked at scan photo! I then had a standard scan at 12 weeks, a private nuchal fold test at 12 weeks and a few days and a 20 week scan. They will monitor you closely having had a previous miscarriage which is very reassuring. I think the earliest they can detect a heart beat is 6 weeks so you should be scanned in the next few weeks.

whomovedmychocolate · 09/03/2008 22:17

Depends on where you are though - my area doesn't do anything differently if you have miscarried previously. Which is why, if you are only going to be assigned one scan in the first trimester, make it one past seven weeks so you get to see a heartbeat.

On the other hand, first trimester miscarriages are virtually unavoidable, as they are caused by genetic errors which mean the baby is unviable. So there is little point really in monitoring any more closely until you are past about eight weeks because there is nothing they can do anyway.

I was 9 weeks when i was pg last time and on new yrs day i started to m/c, i had a scan and they said i had an empty sac it was so devastating then went on to hav dnc and waited for my first period before trying again, then a month later im pregnant! just hope it goes well this time X

Ah, well if it was a blighted ovum there is absolutely no reason to think it will happen again. That tends to be a 'one off' thing. A horrible thing but it tends to have better outcomes in the next pregnancy. Unlike certain genetic condition which can repeat.

Shelli08 · 09/03/2008 22:26

ohhh i do hope so! i didnt feel sick last time either and i do this time, even at this time of night,, thanks for reassurance, ill go to the docs after work tomorrow, im even scared of overdoing it at work x

Good luck!!! I got pregnant the second cycle of miscarrying at 16 weeks. I am 28 weeks now and all is well. It is very worrying though and can't really think of anything to say that will make it any easier!

Smurfs · 09/03/2008 22:32

I don't think I read the OP correctly....My pregnancy after miscarriage is 4.5 years old now and asleep upstairs as is his DS of 2.5 years!

I would love 2 more but DH has said no....big meeney, but we women always get our own way

pinkbubble · 09/03/2008 22:34

I fell pregnant after a mc. Absolutely mortified that I became pregnant without even trying! Well DD is just about to have her 8th Birthday. I have to say, not a day goes by when I do not think " what would our family be like without her!" She is my wild child, she is my funny child, she is my the light of my world! (that sounds awful, as I adore my other 2 DDs) but DD3 is completely different! Saying that I adore all 3.

I had miscarried and then within 2 mths had a big fat positive even thou there were no accidents or slip ups.

Where did DD 3 come from????????????

Shelli08 · 09/03/2008 22:35

awww thanks everyone, you have reassured me ill see what the doc advises tomorrow take care all need my sleep nite nite xxxxx

Smurfs · 09/03/2008 22:38

well pinkbubble.....when a man and lady really love each other an awful lot they grow a baby seed and after many months of no sleep or indeed anything else they all live happily ever after........

pinkbubble · 09/03/2008 23:23

Smurfs thanks for that! I have to be honest, I have so wondered where DD 3 came from! have to say wouldn't change things for the world!

Smurfs · 10/03/2008 10:51

Shelli08, hope it goes well for you today x

babycakes26 · 10/03/2008 14:56

Hi Shelli
I am in the same boat as you but pg after a mmc 3 months ago. Now just over 10 weeks and still panicking like mad. Had a scan at 7 weeks and all looked well and a strong heartbeat was picked up. A huge relief and very emotional for my DH and I. I was glad I had this early scan and I think it will give you peace of mind to push your GP for one too. I have a follow-up scan on Wednesday and I am petrified that all will not be well although I still feel very pregnant - but who knows after 2 miscarriages I think my paranoia is kicking in! Pregnancy after miscarriage is really heard but everything crossed for you that this one will work out just fine - stay positive!

imopop · 10/03/2008 19:41

Shelli08 Congrats! I am 25+5 weeeks pregnant after six miscarriages. It is scary but try to relax. How many weeks are you perhaps you could have an early scan. If all is well this should reassure you. I wish you lots of luck and babydustx

Smurfs · 11/03/2008 21:14
