Unpredictable bleeding 14 weeks

Hi

I am 14 weeks tomorrow. A week ago after my dating scan, i had to go to hospital with a light bleed. All that could be found on the ultrasound was a small area of bleeding (no hematoma no cervical issues) baby seemed fine.

For the past week i have had red and brown spotting almost constantly. Today after thinking it might finally be settling down, i woke up to have light period type bleeding.

All the stories online I can find seem to either be a heavy bleed which resolved quickly. Or a bleed which got worse within a day or so.

Anyone else been in my situation?

Because the bleeding hasn't settled and is getting worse, I have a level of acceptance that this may not have a good outcome so all stories welcome.

Thanks in advance

I’m sorry you’re going through this. Bleeding during pregnancy is scary!

I have something called placenta Previa which can cause painless bleeding during pregnancy. This was only discovered at my 20 week anatomy scan where the placenta was more visible on the ultrasound. I didn’t have any bleeding until 29wks, but it was very heavy when it happened, but cervix remained closed. For some women with this, bleeding can start early in the 2nd trimester.

Were they able to identity the source of your bleeding?

I had the same thing with both my successful pregnancies, both at around 14 weeks. No cause was ever found, but they suspected cervical erosion, and I had two healthy babies, one exactly on the day I calculated she was due and the other 18 days early.
Fingers crossed for you.

Thank you very much! She just said it was a bleed site. Strangely and possibly unrelated, both times i've had bleeding has been after an abdominal ultrasound. This is helpful to know it's perhaps a placenta issue and maybe not visible yet. The unexplained part is making me so anxious

Thank you very much! I was checked for cervical issues but I wonder if it's not always visible.
