Sore armpit lump 35 weeks

I’m 35 weeks pregnant. I noticed a v small ‘lump’ in my left armpit about a month ago but not long after I got Covid so assumed it was to do with that, reactive lymph node etc. Also if I dig around in my right armpit, I can feel basically the same thing only a tiny bit smaller. I’m a recovering health anxiety-er so really making an effort to not diagnose myself with cancer every week after some CBT earlier this year !

Anyway I’ve been absent mindedly having a prod most nights to ‘keep an eye on it’ which probably hasn’t helped. I woke up this morning and it (the left armpit) feels really sore, and the area around where I can feel the lump is swollen. The lump feels bigger but still not massive. It’s quite soft. It’s making me feel a bit generally gross and on the verge of poorly. Can’t see any redness or infectiony bits.

Has anyone else had similar in pregnancy? I’m going to call the GP first thing to hopefully get an appointment tomorrow, also have both consultant and midwife next week anyway.

I've had similar recently. I think that they are just normal lymph nodes, but I noticed that the more I felt them, the more sore they became and the larger they got. I found that if I didn't prob at them for a few days then became smaller and less sore again. It doesn't sound like anything to worry about. Mention it to your Dr if it helps bring you some reassurance, but often with health anxieties, seeking assurance too much can make matters worse. You're bound to be feeling more anxious as you get closer to giving birth. That is quite normal too.

@Bug84 sounds gross but I had a lump under my arm pit and was really sore and got slightly bigger I thought to myself one day it might just be a cyst or In growing hair so I did squeeze it 🤢 sorry to much info and it did pop and go away even sent pics to docs and they gave me some antibiotics they said straight away it was a cyst

Hi OP I also had similar in my armpit whilst heavily pregnant. GP said is was a sebaceous cyst which decreased in size after a few weeks and I’ve not had any further issues with. Fingers crossed yours is completely harmless x

Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences. Managed to see the GP this afternoon, she said the one in my armpit feels like a reactive lymph node. Also she could feel one in my neck which I wasn’t aware of. She felt my boobs and said they were normal. She’s ordered bloods to check FBC etc, to see if there’s anything happening. And she said don’t worry but obviously I will 🤪

@Bug84 how did it go? I'm going through similar - stopped breastfeeding and have had a lump under armpit near breast for a few weeks - a bit sore maybe from prodding

@HasB hi 😊
it went on its own, it must have been a lymph node. I got the GP to check in my 6 week check post partum and she agreed she couldn’t feel anything.
I would say always go and get checked for peace of mind!
