Incompetent Cervix

Hello I’m 20 weeks pregnant and fingers crossed all going well but I recently have read about an incompetent cervix causing miscarriage in the second trimester. I had an internal exam by 2 doctors when spotting at 16 weeks; would they have checked for this or at least noticed if I have one?
Thankyou

Hi OP,

Just a quick one from us to say we have moved this to the Pregnancy board so you can hopefully get helpful responses.

Wishing you all the best and congratulations!

Hi @MSy, they don't routinely check you for cervix issues unless you've had previous problems or a previous surgery (such as abnormal smears etc), however you can book a private one to check your cervix length.

I had a previous abnormal smear and so had a LLETZ procedure and they checked my cervix length at 16 weeks. They said no more scans needed but I am going to book a private cervix length scan around the 21 week mark.

When I had spotting at 17 weeks they scanned me and the doctor said my cervix was a good length and closed so guessing they would have noticed it it was short/incompetent? Xx
