@JD90 We have a growth scan tomorrow to check that baby doesn’t drop below the 3rd. They were 9th last time and I definitely feel much bigger than 2 weeks ago so I’m feeling hopeful 😂

hope your appointment goes well, it’s such a frustrating feeling when your waiting for that kind of appointment.

I’m on annual leave today, I’m going to go through our boxes of newborn things and probably do lots of washing of the baby things!

reememberly · 25/10/2023 09:07

@Thack I thought post-partum ‘fun’ was a euphemism for sex at first 😂 - seemed early to be worrying about that! I’m really keen to hear how people are getting on with the new babies, but I’ve not got too much longer to wait, so others may feel differently.

@BabyBabyBaby123 I think you know your child best and how they might react. I’ve found it a lovely moment previously, but it’s not likely to unfold in a perfect, hallmark way. In my experience, young siblings are interested for about three seconds, so keep the visit extremely short. And whoever brings them in should remind them over and over of what to expect, how they’ll need to behave (being gentle, not too noisy etc) and the fact that you won’t be coming home with them yet.
My eldest is fixated on seeing baby on the day they’re born and I’m fretting that it may not be possible to make that happen for them.

Good luck for your appointment later @JD90.

JD90 · 25/10/2023 09:20

@reememberly thanks I'm trying (and failing) not to think about it too much. I've arranged to go in to see my team for a cuppa and snacks before my appointment to try and keep me distracted (they are just down the corridor from the obs and gynae dept).

@PinkPlantCase bub has been consistently along or just below 10th centile (with one outlier of 13th a few weeks back but other issues such as fluid levels and borderline dopplers) since 20 weeks and I've been in 2 weekly since 26 weeks, however at my last apt she had gone from 13th to 3rd in 2 weeks so been brought back after a week this time. So if she hasn't picked up today then delivery is being arranged... so who knows what today holds, I don't feel any bigger but I do definitely feel more uncomfortable than I did!

Can safely say that I am really looking forward to being rid of pgp and my crutches soon though!

Crazybrowncow · 25/10/2023 09:59

@reememberly & @Thack - me too!! 🤣

Mrsrobinsonx · 25/10/2023 10:41

ugh I’m really struggling with acid reflux 24/7! Anyone else? I’ve got gaviscon and rennies but it’s making me sick a lot now 😅 the joys! Baby feels really low as well so would have thought that helps but nope!
any tips to help? X

PinkPlantCase · 25/10/2023 11:28

@JD90 how many weeks are you now? Fingers crossed for you and baby!

We've only had one growth scan so far so nothing to compare it to, that was almost 2 weeks ago and then I had a chord Doppler and fluid level check last week which were all normal. Providing baby is roughly following a line even if it’s a small one we’ll wait for spontaneous labour and go with our home birth plans. I have wound down work a bit faster though just Incase we do need to have the baby next week 😂 I’m 36 weeks at the moment. On the last scan it was mostly the head measurements that were on the smaller side but I have a small head (my bike helmet is from the kids section) so I’m not too worried.

Nov2023 · 25/10/2023 11:48

Huge congratulations to all of those who have welcomed their babies 💝💝 It is lovely to hamear ghat everyone is doing well!

I am due right at the end of November so have a while to go yet but it is so nice to see good news!

Spareincoming · 25/10/2023 11:53

@Mrsrobinsonx I haven’t suffered this time round but did in previous; I took Marshmallow extract capsules from Holland and Barrett and thought they helped.

Psqueak87 · 25/10/2023 13:53

Accupuncture has helped me slightly. If you don’t have time to go in you could Google “acupressure points for heartburn” I’m still getting it at night, but it’s almost gone in the days.

Psqueak87 · 25/10/2023 13:54

@Mrsrobinsonx sorry forgot to tag you in that response.

JoyApple · 25/10/2023 14:00

Hey has anyone suddenly developed constipation? I suspect it's lack of movement too that isn't helping. I got so desperate last night I actually took lactulose, which is vile and I absolutely hate. It said 3tsp twice a day, is that normal?

Alloveragain3 · 25/10/2023 14:56

@Psqueak87 Love this advice! I'm the exact same; desperate not to be induced but DS was a late baby and the NHS are dating me a few days ahead of what I think is my "real" due date.
Sexy time has been MIA recently with DS back in our bed and me hardly able to move. However, I'm definitely recruiting DH once I get to week 39 or so!!

@JoyApple I had a few unpleasant constipation days last week but thankfully back to normal now. I'll sometimes have a caffeinated coffee, which I find helps.

@Mrsrobinsonx My heartburn was really bad at night from about 30-35 weeks but has settled down. I found eating anything tomato based or spicy in the evening made it worse. Also, coffee was a real killer for it.

@DollyGx Porridge is a good shout! I had mine with a kefir yoghurt today and the sour taste worked quite well to mask the dreaded sweetness.

Good luck with all the growth scans! I'm consistently measuring about the 10th centile, so hopefully no dropping down in the final weeks.

FlyingHighFlyingLow · 25/10/2023 15:10

@JoyApple I have been for a few days. Was about to head to triage this morning due to baby not moving much last night and didn't wake me up moving in the night like usual. Managed to go before leaving and what was birthed may genuinely rival current size of baby and blocked the toilet 😱🙈. Immediately after felt baby stretching out and moved normally since 😅.

DH and I spent over an hour unblocking the toilet and were both over an hour late to work. Thankfully he was so relieved baby moving again and impressed by the scale of the problem that he wasn't mad or grossed out 🤣.

I'll be buying stool softener tonight!

Sb86 · 25/10/2023 15:15

@FlyingHighFlyingLow just made me laugh so much 🤣🤣🤣🤣 the joys!!

Psqueak87 · 25/10/2023 15:27

@FlyingHighFlyingLow oh my god 😂

@Alloveragain3 forgot to say I’m also doing accupuncture to try get labour started, still no signs. I’ve gone through the whole pregnancy never having Braxton hicks, no signs at all that labour is anywhere near. Baby still way up in my ribs. Dr’s have my due date as Nov 5, but I know conception day and that would make it Nov 3. They will induce me on Nov 12 if I’ve not given birth yet. It’s first baby so I’m pretty sure it’ll go that far.

coffee was also making my heartburn way worse. I worked this out at about 25 weeks so luckily (mostly) stopped drinking it. I still have the odd one if I need it, but I find it’s not worth it for the heartburney aftermath!

Alloveragain3 · 25/10/2023 15:32

@Psqueak87 Ooh, so they think you're a wee bit behind where you are; I think that's a good place to be!

Like everyone else, I want baby here safely but I'm really unsure if I'll go straight to medically inducing labour if it's suggested. I might ask them to check to ensure all is ok with baby and she's happy and then try other methods for a couple more days (maybe a sweep). Although, I say this now and will probably do whatever the doc suggests when faced with the situation IRL!

@FlyingHighFlyingLow This is brilliant. Sounds like your DH is a stand up guy, I loved that he jumped right in to help you out, bless him!

Sb86 · 25/10/2023 15:46

My midwife attempted to do a s&s today but my cervix wasn't ready for it 😖 I'm due 8th of Nov but getting induced next Weds at 39 weeks to make sure all the staff are available for baby's op. Got another s&s booked for Monday so hoping that will get something started 🙏🏼

Todays service announcement:
Ladies do not forget your “get things moving” pills.
This is all.

OP posts:
Psqueak87 · 25/10/2023 18:02

@Alloveragain3 I want to do the same. I really want to go without an epidural, and I’ve heard an induction increases the pain and thus the chances of me having one.

Problem is my family are all coming to stay in my 1000sq ft small apartment on December 5th for a week. I tried putting them off, and it’s better than their original plan of November 5th…
so it’ll be me, my partner, my mum, my dad, my brother, 2 large dogs and a cat…oh and a newborn. In a small 2 bedder. I feel like the longer I have with the baby beforehand the better this will be, as I would ideally like to be coming accustomed to breast feeding by then. So it’s a bit of a race to get her born asap. Lol. They’re flying over to see me in Canada, from the UK, so can’t postpone if baby comes late. The thing I’m dreading most is being stuck in my room feeding the baby the entire time, because I’m not the kind of person to feel comfortable feeding in a room full of people, as much as I wish I was.

Alloveragain3 · 25/10/2023 18:40

Oh bless you, that sounds stressful.

I also have my parents flying over (from Ireland) and it puts the pressure on!

They've booked to comes before my due date for a week and I'm conscious they may come and go before baby even arrives!

If it is any reassurance, I thought I'd be really anxious about BFing DS in front of people but I actually didn't feel that way when it came down to it and just used a big muslin to cover up if my FIL was there!

Mrsrobinsonx · 25/10/2023 18:55

@Spareincoming what ones are you taking? I’ve been looking what is good whilst breastfeeding.

Spareincoming · 25/10/2023 19:13

@Mrsrobinsonx Fybogel is the one most midwives will tell you is for use when breastfeeding, that or lactulose.
I prefer Dulcoease, I think it’s more gentle post c-section, my consultant has always maintained it is absolutely fine when breastfeeding too, the midwife I spoke today was in agreement for once!
Not that it matters to me, I can’t breastfeed due to my medications, but it’s nice to be informed!

The midwife also gave me an amazing post c-section car travel tip today - wish I’d known about it years ago - sit on a plastic bag in the car, like a thick bag for life, and it will help you swivel in your seat to get out as it reduces friction between your bum and the seat.
Genius!

@FlyingHighFlyingLow 🤣🤣 that's hilarious! Glad it was out of you.

@Spareincoming how many are you having and did you start them before birth? GP prescribed mid-pregnancy docusate sodium tablets but only for a week ... It's 3 per day, but not sure whether I should take that many? I really don't want to go into labour early as I'm booked for a c-section late next week.

JoyApple · 25/10/2023 19:39

@Spareincoming how is the drying up milk going? I'm not breastfeeding at all too, and dreading that part of it. I've requested Cabergoline straight after birth, so I'm hoping that will help but I'm dreading it as I've had lots of breast issues in this pregnancy and with my last child.

DollyGx · 25/10/2023 19:42

@FlyingHighFlyingLow this made me laugh out loud!! Oh the glamour of pregnancy! 😆
