Braxton hicks

Hey all.

Im 22+4 and have been experiencing what must be braxton hicks nearly every day for the last 2 weeks or so!

I guess I was just wondering if anyone else experiences them and is this a lot or just average?

I only know they’re braxton hicks through google 🙈 my whole lower bump goes tight and rock hard and it’s a weird sensation but no pain. Only lasts for 30-60 seconds but seems to be happening more often.

Not a question really but just find them quite cool but don’t know much about them .

It’s common, certain things can make them worse like babies position and not drinking enough water

BEO · 22/10/2023 00:19

ah interesting. I do have 2-3 litres of water a day minimum so must be something else with me.

I had them with both of my pregnancies from about 8 weeks until the end. Nothing really made them better or worse.

Could it be round ligament pain? So many weird and wonderful things happen to your body throughout pregnancy. Just ensure you're drinking plenty, walking to get moving but also resting as much as possible.

I had the worst braxton hicks when I hit 30+ weeks with my second. So uncomfortable.

No it’s not round ligament pain. Like I said it’s not a pain just a strange sensation and my bump goes hard and tight then goes back to normal x

I had them throughout all my pregnancies. Followed by spontaneous easy labours! 😀

I'm on dc4 and have been getting them multiple times a day since 9 weeks. 36 weeks now and they go on all day and night. Occasionally they are enough to stop me in my tracks, but most are painless and I barely notice. A very uncomfortable and weird sensation!

Sounds exactly like my braxton hicks, I had them a lot - several times a day, ever day towards the end of my pregnancy last time.

I’ve had some this time as well (26 weeks now).

I got them more when I was walking, but no pattern other than that.

I found them very distinctive - once I realised what it was, they’re completely different to round ligament/other pain.

They’re also completely different from labour pains, so don’t worry about not being able to tell if you’re having real contractions when the time comes… you will definitely know!

Thanks girls. It’s my first pregnancy so all new. I was slightly worried until I googled and realised that this is what they are. Like I say they don’t hurt at all I just find the human body fascinating and was surprised really that they happen so early.

They are not painful at all so I know I would get them confused with Labour pains 🤣 although I wish Labour pains were like this 🤣
