Am caughing up my lungs, almighty headache, hot and cold and nose exploding. Will anything harm wee junior?

Will I go see doctor on Monday or is this overreacting? Cannot lose this one due to stupid flu! Had two previous mis and no children.

Anything allowed but paracetamol?

Should not cause a problem no but your immunity is lower when you are pregnant.

If you are concerned call you midwife, your GP although you may get a on call doc some are fab others useless, or ring NHS direct 0845 46 47

Wildwind, so sorry to hear you're not feeling well. I also had 2 m/cs before this pregnancy and when nine wks pg with this one got the cold from hell. Raging temperature, cough, headache. Cried for a week thinking I was going to lose baby number 3 - I am now 25 weeks pg and everything fine.

My consultant did a scan at the time (I was on weekly scans anyway cos of my history) and baby was fine). She said that you will feel much worse with colds, etc when pg cos your body will prioritize your baby first and you will just get whatever is left over.

Pop and see your GP for some reassurance and otherwise try and rest as much as possible, take paracetamol and drink lots.

Take care.

I had bad flu at 7 weeks pg, couldn't get out of bed for for a week. My dp had to call the doctor out to the house and she prescribed me anti-biotics which were safe to take and told me to take nothing else but paracetamol. This is my 4th pg, lost previous 3 to m/c so I was worried I was going to lose this one too. I'm now 17wks and it's going well. Don,t worry, just get appointmet wth GP, will def put your mind at rest. Get well soon x

Can't even get a lemsip these days can we? Paracetemol fine & should help your temp. For the cough, try hot water, honey & lemon (wasn't convinced myself till I actually tried it), the honey seemed to soothe the tickle that led to the violent cough. HTH & you feel better soon

Hope you feel better soon. If it is any help it sounds like a heavy cold and not flu from what you have said. I am just getting over a cold myself and I was told paracetamol and olbas oil were ok by my midwife.

Make an appointment and see your GP though. It will put your mind at rest.

Boots' own brand version of lempsip is really just a lemony drink wth paracetamol in it- i.e. no other drugs/decongestants- and so is ok to take during pg. Felt oddly more comforting than a couple of pills though!

Good luck with this pregnancy, take it easy on yourself x

Thank you all for advice! Feeling reassured. was worried that caughing makes baby spin like in a washing machine.

Lemons ans hot water and honey helped. Splodgesmum and karney - hoping all goes well for yous. Best wishes!

Thanks all - as ever
