In the last week or so my ankles have begun to swell up (my fingers have been swollen for a month now) and I cant leave the house unless DP takes me as the bus stop (which isnt far) is too far with this extra weight pressing on my pelvis.

I was really quite enjoying pg up till now but hate the lack of independence - DP is great but I liked being able to nip out on my own.

I know Mother Nature designed things to work this way - lets face it, if being pregnant was a breeze from start to finish we wouldnt want it to end, but at this stage (38 wks tommorrow) I thought I'd got away with the "fed-up and fat" end bit that I've heard so many talk about.

I suppose the bloody stretch marks come next!
That'll teach me to assume I'd escape it all

OK whinge over - what do I do about the swollen ankles (which I am finding elephantine and repulsive) is it just a question of putting my feet up???

am afraid so, feet up and plenty of water to help fluids run through

you're very VERY lucky to have got to the 38wk stage and only feel like this now

if your pelvis is sore make sure you're sleeping with a pillow between your knees at night and get a gym/birth ball to sit and rock on, will keep your posture where it should be and brilliant for helping make you more comfy

good luck!

Hi im 30 weeks pregnant at moment and im starting to feel a bit uncomfortable! Finding it a slog to get in and out the bath at the mo and im so tired!
Im still working full time at the moment but when i get in from work all i want to do is sleep! Is anyone else feeling the same?

Peachy · 08/03/2008 14:57

Know how you feel- am 37 weeks tomorrow with my 4th and NEVER felt like this before! have ahd numerous niggles throughout but now at the stage where I am so immobilie that front door to car (approx 2 meters) hurts! As its my 4th though its ahrd to slow down withs chool runs etc, so just have to keep going and pray baby is early. bet it won't be. ahven't finished Uni yet either (lectures end next week but work still there until end May!).

Tyl · 08/03/2008 15:03

I dont know how ur coping with 3 children i bet you dont get any time to yourself? I suppose im quite lucky becuase when i do get that tired i can just go to sleep as this my 1st.
Im so nervous now though only 10 weeks left i cant believe how fast its gone to be honest! When r u planning on finishing Uni?

BearMama · 08/03/2008 15:07

Oh believe me dizzy I do think I've been lucky. Got the gym ball (thank goodness for cheapo Tesco one) and it is quite comfy and have been using the pillow between my knees at night for some time now.

Tyl all I can say is if you dont have any other DC's then by all means have a nap! Even with the discomfort I am doing my best to enjoy this time because it will never be like this again.

Peachy how do you manage all that??? You are 37 wks and doing work AND study? With 3 DC's???
Please tell me you are really young so I dont feel completely inadequate

mrslurkalot · 08/03/2008 16:01

I'm 39 weeks, feel like I can't move and the latest insult is horrid piles!!! Planned section on Thursday and I can't bloody wait!

BearMama · 08/03/2008 16:14

Ag poor you mrslurkalot - was that because of constipation?

OP posts:
markymark · 08/03/2008 16:36

Am 37 1/2 weeks... and counting. Same as you - thought I'd got away with it, but in the last week the swollen hands and feet, stretch marks and other strange aches and pains have appeared. Planned a nice soak in the bath to cheer myself up - insult added to injury when couldn't reach the nice smellies at the other end 'cos my big belly was in the way

Know I am v.v.lucky to have got away with it for so long, but looking forward to the end now!

Peachy · 08/03/2008 16:47

LOL that someone due so close to me on here has the nickname I call my DH

mrslurkalot · 08/03/2008 17:11

yes! can't believe I am posting about my bottom lol!!! am thinking that at least with the good pain killers you get after a section I won't be able to feel my poor tender rear!

BearMama · 08/03/2008 17:17

Sympathy for you mrslurkalot - I dread those horrible things so much so that I am obsessively eating muesli every morning and drinking lots of water. And Fibresure helps keep things moving but its a bit of a rip-off IMO

mrslurkalot · 08/03/2008 17:54

Oh dizzy that's so kind - thank you!!!

dizzydixies · 08/03/2008 17:58

its no problem - I meant to say though with you having a section you shouldn't hopefully have anything near as bad - mainly caused by baby coming down birth canal and pressing on back passage - well thats how it was explained to me anyway!

wishing you all the luck in the world for next week

mrslurkalot · 08/03/2008 18:18

Thank you dizzy! Yes, I wouldn't relish the idea of pushing at the moment!

dizzydixies · 08/03/2008 18:31

just didnt' want you to be terrified by us lot on the other thread! glad to be able to help even if makes me the MN Piles expert lol
