If you had iugr in a previous pregnancy, did you have extra scans in next pregnancy?

My first child stopped growing at 36 weeks (picked up as I had scan to check low lying placenta then a growth scan due to small fundal height), and therefore I understand considered iugr. He was ultimately induced early.

I’m pregnant with my second and have been told I won’t have any extra scans as my first was born small but within the healthy range.

I’m interested in other’s experiences. If you had a previous pregnancy with iugr, did you have any consultant care / extra scans in following pregnancy?

After my first IURG pregnancy I was told I would. But I had to push for them - every MW appoint (and later on chats with consultants) I had to remind them that they were needed and push for them to be arranged.

There was no resistance to me getting them, but there also didn’t seem to be a system to make it happen automatically.

Second baby was bigger, but the scans picked up other issues so I’m glad I was on the ball about it.

Yes! My daughter was 7 weeks early and 3lb6oz so during this pregnancy I’ve been under consultant care and growth scans throughout. Baby growing this time though thankfully 🤞

DC was picked up as IUGR at 36 weeks too, was considered to be IUGR and SGA on the paperwork - 1.9kg @ 37 weeks. Pregnant with no.2, no extra scans here or even a consultant referral due to previous IUGR, just prescribed aspirin. Thankfully have another condition which means growth scans from 28weeks so not having to fight for checks but I gather from my consultant a lot of the time the IUGR is considered a “one off” for that specific pregnancy with no guarantee the circumstances will repeat themselves……

Hi op, how much did your 1sr baby weigh if you don't mind me asking?

Hi, yes I had severe IUGR with first. This time I'm again consultant lead and having growth scans every 4 weeks from when I was 28 weeks.
